This Is Just Plain Wrong!

September 11th 2008 06:59
Animal Cruelty
You hear about - and for those (like me) who are outraged by it - now we get to see it.

Cruellty to animals - leaves me - well speechless.

I don't purport to linking this video as a post for any reason other than perhaps bringing some imbecile to justice.

The RSPCA is currently hunting a youth shown punching and kicking a kangaroo unconscious in the online video.

According to the Courier Mail in Brisbane - a video was sent to the RSPCA in Western Australia showing the youth using kickboxing-style attacks while his friend laughs and films.

In one scene the man pulls the kangaroo towards him and uses his knee to deliver a blow to the animal's chest.

Eventually the youth punches the roo unconscious although it is not clear whether the attack resulted in the animal's death.

A nationwide appeal to catch the cowards who shot the sickening footage.

If you are as easily incensed about these things as I am - perhaps you best not view.

I am with Morgan, I can't watch the video. Things like that REALLY upset me.

It is so bad that there is a commercial on over here with Sheryl Crow speaking and sad music playing in the background. As she speaks about animal cruelty and pet adoption they show images of rescued and recovering dogs and cats. After watching it the first time I have to change the channel whenever it comes on, and these are animals on the road to recovery. So, I change the channel as quick as possible, and then go and hug or pet our two Rat Terriers and our cats.

Animal cruelty to me is one of the worst offenses someone can commit. It is a shame when they catch the idiots doing it that they don't put them in front a jury of the animals peers for punishment. You know, like assemble a tiger, a lion, maybe a pit bull, a crocodile, and a few other animals (hopefully somehow getting the point across to them to leave one another alone)...and let them judge the offender and punish them as they see fit. Crazy idea I know, but a fitting punishment.

I can't believe that the moron taking the video is actually laughing while his 'mate' is being a complete imbecile.

I think you've made a wise decision in leaving well enough alone.

Thanks for dropping by

Know I've gone a little off the rails from my normal posts - but this really did get me fired up this morning.

Apparently most versions of the video have been removed from the 'net' - but if I was either one of the two buffoons involved I'd be pretty damned worried about now . . . I suspect they will be 'nabbed' in the next day or two and then we'll see just how funny they think their actions were.

Throw than damned book at em.

Thanks for calling on round champion

Please be sure to update us if these boys are caught. I hope that they get the punishment they deserve and then some psychiatric treatment.

Don't worry . . . think the media will do that job well and truly over the next day or so . . .

Should we start applying the Graduation Hypothesis now?

How someone can derive pleasure from inflicting pain upon another living animal completely escapes me. And the sad fact is, even if caught, these youths really won't be held accountable... Australia has such a poor record in terms of delivering justice in Animal Cruelty cases-- And if these youths are under the age of 18, well they'll be lucky to set foot in court!

Your right on the money as far as conviction and penalties befitting the crime is concerned.

Let's hope the public outcry will pave the way in this (and all other cases) for harsher penalties in a way that the judicial and political system should have years ago.

Cheers

It's been proven that animal abuse leads to violent behaviour towards other humans.

The animal cruelty laws are totally useless, (as are the gutless lawyers who are too scared to set a precedent), so they'll probably get away with this one. But they'll quickly move onto children and women etc, only a matter of time.

Shame that a bullet can't be wasted on them now instead of waiting for some poor child to be murdered. That's how our society is though sadly.

Rose.

sorry,
I refuse to watch it, I too hate animal cruelty.

These arseholes are psychopaths and should be kept in a criminal forensic hospital till effectively treated.

There is no point in putting them in gaol for a limited amount of time, or just giving them a fine and a good ticking off.

These types of people must be psychiatrically treated, like so many other offenders of varing types of aggression, otherwise society is doomed to suffer by their hand, time and again, often worse than the last time they offended.

It is time for a public ground swell to demand we take a different approach to these areas of behaviour, instead of taking the quick and easy, and cheaper for government, way out by gaoling, which does little to solve the problem, we must demand they put money into intensive psychiatric treatment of these people, in purpose built treatment facilities.

cheers

I won't even watch the video. Cruelty to animals is the one thing I absolutely can not abide. I can't understand how anyone can take pleasure in hurting something defenseless that has done nothing wrong to you.

People like this deserve actual jail time!

I couldn't watch it either and unfortunately saw a few still shots on the RSPCA's website. This makes me sick to my stomach and I hope they end up locked away for good (wishful thinking I know).
I hate to think of the other horrible things they've done that aren't caught on tape. I do feel sorry for their parents though. Imagine having such a monster for a son.
