What Are You Most Likely To Forget?

November 7th 2007 21:07
I'm generally pretty good with the whole birthday, anniversary, appointment thing - in fact - I can't think of a single time when I've actually short-fused and forgotten one.

Ask me where my wallet and car keys are though - and you'd have me on toast 7 out of 10 days.

I'm getting better . . . but only through a rigid training regime instigated by my wife - who was tiring of arriving late to just about everything because I'd put the keys in a 'safe place'.

It would frustrate the living daylights out the whole family, which started to resemble a Sherpa expeditionary party from time to time.

So shoot me!

Holistically - I'm proud of my record when it comes to earmarking dates to pay insurance, rego, phone and electricity bills - I'm even vigilant when it comes to remembering to get the car serviced - if only I could find my keys to get the damned thing out of the garage . . . .

Hello MNG

It's almost as though you are peeking into my mind lately with the questions you've asked.

I'm having one of those mornings where I am forgetting all the simple things, so everything is taking me longer.

I open a new window (a computer one, the rain is too heavy for a real one) and forget what I need to do. So, I sit, try and wait for a clue, wait a bit more, then realise it's not coming yet so I have to do something else....

Hmmmmm

Blond/e mornings happen to us all from time to time.

Funny thing, is those morning's seem to be becoming more and more frequent lately. Doh!

Mr Nice, my mobile is something I tend to forget almost every time and which pisses hubby off. As soon as I leave it in the corner of the room to be charged, it's out of my mind. I actually have to literally put my car keys and wallet next to my phone so I'll remember. So far, this trick has worked.

I forget to eat.........but then, when I remember, I make up for my forgetfulness by over-eating. Vicious circle and very unhealthy!

I rarely forget any important dates, and even if I do, I manage to remind myself in time because I diarise every little thing. I even write down things like 'Mum's golf tournament' so I can remember to ring her and ask how she went. I also have a notebook in which I list everything I need to do, things I have to tell people, things I need to buy, ideas for presents, etc...

And I always keep keys, etc in exactly the same place.

I'm usually good with names and facts, but statistics I have to write down if it's important or for work or whatever, because numbers sometimes get mixed up in my head.

Michaelie

PS Please don't think I'm a pedantic freak. I'm not really!

I've thought of something I often forget - the order of the vowels in the word 'manoeuvre'.

Did I spell it wrong that time? I usually do.

I can't remeber that I forgot something so it does not bother me, Now what was I writing to tell you? Ah well I suppose it will come back whatever it was? I remember, happens to me too, good observation.

damn!!

..MNG...now you've put me off!!

I was about to post something on an article I just read, in the National Geographic, on memory!!!

Now EVERYONE..well...two people maybe three if I am lucky with visitors in my neck of the electronic woods..will think I am copying you!!

However, as a wee mite, I used to love watching The Nutty Professor, (the REAL one, Jerry Lewis!), and loved how he forgot things...because I realized I couldn't forget anything!!!

I used to be the arbiter in family arguments because I could remember exactly what everyone said....I should have become a lawyer..

Anyhoo...no problem with that these days...for now I have to write down what I do each day, for tomorrow, it will be gone!

The wages of sin....a crumbling frontal lobe or two!!

cheers

If you see any of my daughter's phones - and I mean any of them - anywhere - feel free to have a garage sale.

Yep - you're not alone.

Thanks for dropping by

Busy people that we are - I can completely understand.

I've sometimes been so involved with my own world that by the time I realise its lunch or dinner it's sometimes simply easier to chill til breakfast.

Not good.

Consistency in ethos is a quality. Don't ever apologise for that.

Blessed are the list makers . . . .

I wouldn't worry about doing the whole National Geographic post thing buddy - besides, if anyone pulls punches you could justifyably use the "frontal lobe" defence.

Cheers champ - hope you're enjoying the downey mist in your neck of the woods.

Cheers
