The Day I Met A Jeannie
June 20th 2011 03:15
She was washed up onto a beach somewhere in the south Pacific in the mid 1960s eventually to be 'uncorked' by Larry Hagman (aka Captain Anthony Nelson) - and grace our television screens (and hearts) for the next 50 years - and guess what?
They were here in Sydney!
Supanova Pop Culture Expo was dreaming of Jeannie!
Barbara Eden, Larry Hagman and Bill Daily still have the magic after all these years. From 1965 to 1970 the trio won viewers’ hearts in the classic series I Dream of Jeannie.
In addition to Jeannie, Barbara Eden featured in Flaming Star with Elvis Presley and Voyage to the Bottom of The Sea with her husband, Michael Ansara.
Larry Hagman went on to feature as the villainous JR Ewing in Dallas, as well as appearing in scores of movies and TV shows. Bill Daily also appeared in the two Jeannie movies and dozens of other roles, including in the Gen-X kids’ favourite, ALF!
However, the triumphant trio are best known for their work on Jeannie which exploded into historic levels of popularity when it was syndicated in re-runs in 1971.
Thought you'd like to see a shot or two of a good friend of MNG's - who was 'brave' enough to get her Jeannie Barbie signed on the day and have a quick chat with Jeannie's master.
