Bah Humbug!

OK - so the holiday and festive season means many things to many people.
But an episode which was brought to my attention yesterday, takes the Christmas cake as far as Grinch-like prevailing attitudes are concerned - and one which I hope is strung up and left to dry in the baking Aussie sun.
As far as the story goes - an employee of a well known local Sydney council decided to get into the Christmas spirit by wearing a Santa suit and beard whilst driving his road gang's truck to and from the day's jobs.
Having received smiles, waves, and general good tidings from everyone he passed - the workman returned to the depot to be allegedly greeted by management and asked for a please explain - as not only was his 'attitude' being put into question, but that the Xmas persona (which had received such wide acclaim all day) was NOT the image the council wanted to portray to the community.
Furthermore (despite the fact the workman had dispensed with the Santa garb whilst on the job - only to -re-garb when entering the truck) he was informed it was an Occupational Health and Safety issue not to wear a fluro jacket over his Santa suit whilst driving . . .
I beg your pardon?
What have we come to?
Have we all gone to the dogs?
All this man did was display a little Christmas spirit - brought a few smiles to the faces of children and other commuters/passers by.
Perhaps I'm out of step?
