If I Were A Drink I'd Be . . . ?
November 12th 2008 21:00
It's funny how insane questions come to the table sometimes - yet this one found it's way into the conversation yesterday and triggered such a response that I thought it only prudent to include Orblers.
In fact - so fervent was the initial foray into exactly what kind of drink you would most likely be - that the bar at the function centre actually concocted a new 'mocktail' it labelled 'The Fruit Tingle' in honour of one young lady's suggestion.
From exotic cocktails to classic beers, spirits to soft drinks - it appeared we had both the top, middle and lower shelves covered as far as personalities were concerned.
So - given your personality and outlook - what drink would you be?

Alcohol based I would probably say something vodka based. Smirnoff Ice seems to be a favorite lately, probably the black cherry flavor.

actually Fog asked me this once, oh no he asked what drink your perfect partner would be maybe
i think i said a shot of Southern Comfort and a shot of Cointreau combined . . . obviously the strong caveman type . . . well maybe a caveman in a smoking jacket
but me, im probably less strong, i think i would be a Frozen Lime Margarita, in the nice glass with the sparkly salted rim, but possibly mixed in bulk in a slushy machine and poured from a plastic tap
i bet that was more information than you anticipated!

Or 'refreshing'. Or 'full of flavour'. Or 'irresistibly intoxicating'.
Unfortunately, I am probably the tart citrus cordial everyone has one sip of before pulling a face and moving onto the raspberry.
And now I am sounding like bitter beer. Or sour milk?
Not fine bubbled champagne anyway.
But hopefully I will find a Tonic for what Ales me, and tomorrow will bring a delightful Tequila Sunrise.

"day-jaar-voooo"
yes, I got 'de ja vu' because, this is similar to my own and much earlier post;
"What cocktail would your partner be?"
Don't believe me...see following link... (I hope you get more responses than I did!)

I first posted my response before anyone else had...then I check later, and others are before me...odd..
anyhoo,
Morgan, you are right, but it was a post on my blog, not a question I put to you personally...
However, I seem to remember petrol and bourbon being a significant part of your original recipe, then you got all sophisticated on us with the Rusty Nail like cocktail... which is in fact Dom Benedictine and Drambuie, which I used to love, a little too much I very vaguely remember, while stage managing...
cheers

MNG,
I'll leave you with this old adage;
imitation is the height of flattery!

oh you are very right, i phrased that badly (or perhaps i just chose to remember it as being all about me! haha), you asked a question to the world and i was one of the people who answered!

Given your mantle - I would've suspected you'd cite Gatorade or something equally obscure.
Cheers champ

. . . you've got me completely bamboozled.
Tart though I would suggest would never apply to you no matter what the connotation.

Apologies old boy for the indescretion and similarity between posts - but yes indeed - I could do a whole lot worse than take a line from you.
Imitation is certainly one of the most sincere forms of flattery.
Stay well

But in keeping with my character I would say I nice cold refreshing beer. Something nice like Stella Artois...well it's what's in my fridge at the moment. Down to earth (but with a little bit of class), a few bubbles, a little froth, nothing too sweet and definitely an acquired taste.
And just in case you're a Danny Kaye fan I couldn't resist adding this...
But did you put the pellet with the poison in the vessel with the pestle?
No! The pellet with the poison's in the flagon with the dragon! The vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true!
I love that movie!

And, even though I am not a lover of most cocktails, can be easily talked into a well made Marguerita.
If your discussion about drnks had some sort of personality appraisal to it, what does that say about me?

As a drink, I would vary depending on the drinkers mood, as I have five main ingredients.
Mostly perhaps a Mexican Majeto (pronounced Mah-Hee-toe), sweet, spicy with a tinge of mint, but packed full of Rum. You keep drinking these thinking you are fine until you try to stand up and find your legs gone from under you.
Other days I would be a giggly bubbling Muscato wine.
Others days still I am as still as A good Merlot on a winters day in front of a warm fire.
On hot days I would be like a refreshing cold beer at a salty beach and BBQ Day.
Finally an exotic tropical Pina Colada, full of tropical island breezes, walm balmy nights and soft coconut smells and brains.
Cheers
