Happy Birthday To Me . . .
November 29th 2007 20:59
Tomorrow's my birthday.
Hardly extraordinary, I know - given we all have them.
And you would think after the first few decades I would have got the hang of them by now - but apparently not.
While practice supposedly makes perfect - each year for some reason - the ability to regail in its' celebration just gets harder and harder.
Tomorrow will be no exception.
The fact I'm forced (by circumstance) to spend the the day blowing out my own candles, and singing happy birthday to myself probably doesn't help.
It's no-one's fault - it's just worked out that way.
Mind you, apparently I share this most hallowed of days with Bette Midler, Richard Pyror, Lee Trevino, Lou Rawls and Woody Allen - and I would expect they'll all be calling first thing to wish me all the best . . .
I suppose I could celebrate by parading around in my 'Birthday Suit' in public wearing a party hat and streamers - but I've never really been one for party hats.
So - Happy Birthday to Me.
Sad, self indulgent and pathetic all at once really - isn't it?
For now though - I think I'll sit back, close my eyes and just make a wish.
I just hope I don't go too overboard at my own party and have to drive me home.

If only the girls in my life were around tomorrow.
Still . . . them's the breaks.
As you'd be aware - it's easy being yourself - harder being a dad (or mum).
Thanks and cheers

I'm guessing if the Birthday Cards outnumber the Sympathy cards this year - I'm still doin OK.

Birthdays still don't feel real to me until I see my family. It has something to do with receiving the majority of my presents from them. Lol.
Anyway - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Thank you.
I'll take your advice on the hat - that just leaves one of those party blower things to worry about
Ouch - that was probably politically incorrect.
Cheers

How's it going?
I hope things are collectively well!
How special does that little pyrotechnics display make me feel . . .
It's the thought that my new Orble colleagues (friends) go to, that make you aware there are genuinely nice people out there.
Thank you!

I love birthdays. I insist on having a birthday week. I think everyone should have one of those (if it's a milestone birthday, then a birthday month is warranted!).

Done!
What a brilliant concept. Passed one milestone - another is on it's way in a few years time. Perhaps I can start out with a birthday week and add in additional days each year until I reach the next 0!
Thanks (as always).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Nothing wrong with being the designated drunk on your special day, especially if the heat from all those candles is causing the icing to melt off the cake...
Many blessings and great joy to you for the next 365...

Really appreciate you calling in - and of course for your kind words.
With the leap year in 2008 - guess we all get one day's grace from the dreaded (or celebrated) aging process.
Thanks again

That whole "I'm 21 - no really I am" - lie is already starting to wear a little thin.
. . . arr who cares!
Thanks for dropping and 'virtually' celebrating.

Again, since today's the actual day.

I hope you put extra oil on your wheels so you can do wheelies in the backyard, and blow your whistle...ok maybe don't do that last part in public!
As for birthdays, really they only matter if you have friends and family actively participating in your life. It is the same for Christmas and New years. They are either the best of times, or the loneliest of times.
AA and NA rooms are full during those days of celebration, sad to say...been there then quite a few times myself.
Your family may not have been around for the actual day, but I am sure they will be celebrating with you at some point, and in that, you are far luckier than a whole lot of other people out there!
I trust and hope you got some nice pressies, lots of adoring cuddles and a lovely big cake.
By the way MNG, how much does it cost to hire the fire brigade to stand by while you light the candles? (tee hee!!!)
I'd like to know, as I live in a State Forest area!
cheers...and most belatedly....happy birthday...(sorry about that chief)...
HIP HIP!! HOORAAAY!! MNG IS 125!!!! hehe!
Just look at it as another 'MILLSTONE!' around the neck...tee hee!!

I find that it helps to sit in a bath of cold water and eat a cheese and onion sandwich sandwich in honour of a great, hansom fellow(me) this helps the ego so give it a go maybe you can share the straight jacket with me I am sure my keepers will not mind!
HAVE A GREAT ONE from one archer to the other.
