I Missed My Own Birthday!
July 3rd 2008 22:19
I never thought it would happen - but it did!
I missed my own birthday.
(altogether now . . . oooohhhhhhh)
Well - my Orble birthday at least!
After 225 posts - and wondering if I would ever as much as have a single person who was vageuly interested in what I had to say - I completely missed celebrating my first year as
an 'Orbler' - of sorts.
From the Brady Bunch through to One Hit Wonders, TV, movies, vinyl and pop icons through to more serious and compelling issues I've felt the need to share with you all (including the tragic loss just a few months ago of a friend) - I've come to know many of you 'virtually' via the blogosphere and some of you personally (which I feel richer for).
Like all of us - work, health and family matters sometimes take precedence (as they should) - but its reassuring that friends (real or virtual) are there when you return.
I've made some close acquaintances over the past 12 months (which someone reminded me was almost three weeks ago now) - and quite frankly I've been so pleasantly surprised at the close-knit - almost family type warmth and banter that I've shared over the past 12 months - for which I thank every one of you.
I may not be controversial. I may not be a protagonist. I may not be everyone's cup of tea - but over the past year - each of you have offered something of yourselves - and for that I'm forever grateful.

Being controversial is not the be all and end all.
Who the hell listens to bloggers anyway?
I always enjoy posts written by people who are genuine.
Yours are thus.

Thanks buddy. Quality bloggers (and people) are thin on the ground these days - I've been fortunate enough to have experienced both through Orble.
Stay well.

It was such a shame that I was unable to catch up with a few of you guys the other week . . .
Reminiscing is fundamentally harmless - which is why it's so much fun - just so long as we continue to live in the today and think about tomorrow.
Cheers buddy

For me you are a pleasant distraction to the banality of hanging up clothes and emptying dishwashers.
And your thought provoking questions into pop culture are fantastic ice breakers at dinner parties.

You are too generous in your praise of course . . . but I think that's because you're a genuinely nice person.
As for Manson - well I seem to recall it was one of your posts which turned my thinking around about this man - for which I'm indebted.

Happy belated birthday. Can I have some of that cake that Jason gave you?
It’s definitely something to celebrate, each time I get a notification saying you’ve created a new post and I read it, I wonder where you get your creative inspiration from. You seem to have a never-ending well of vital questions that need to be answered. And often they need multiple answers, I can be driving along somewhere (or stuck in traffic, I live in Sydney) or at work and I think of something that I must add to my answer when I get home.
I enjoy having a laugh, MNG and your blog gives me that.
I seem to have burbled on, but I just want to say thanks for the laughs, warmth and cyber-friendship.
