What's Your Favourite Variety of Chocolate?

November 21st 2007 21:30
Everyone loves chocolate.

Well, almost everyone I guess?

There are some who simply choose not to delight in it for reasons best known to themselves - and that's cool!

But in essence - (and thanks in part to the responses on Krystal's fearlovehate.com blog on What Makes You Feel Good) I feel reasonably safe in suggesting that chocolate would - if guilt didn't rule our hearts - be part of the staple diet.

Most Friday nights at our place is designated 'chocolate night'.

Unless otherwise detained - it is the one night of the week that (in the knowledge dad is armed with a variety of sweet cocoa laden treats) I'm greeted with a sense of family and warmth - as I walk through the front door.

Without doubt - its the way to my family's heart.

The biggest challenge though is what to buy?

. . . and of course while variety is the spice of life - everyone has their favourites.

Number 1 daughter regails in a Crunchie, while number 2 is a Polly Waffle fanatic. Number 3 is easily pleased but is quite partial to anything resembling a Kit Kat while Mrs Nice Guy would happily die eating a Bounty Bar.

As for me - well - I tend to get what ever is left - and that suits me just fine - though I do have the occassional penchant for Cherry Ripe's.

So welcome to the Chocolate Bar - what will it be?

Anything and everything.

I don't love coconut, marshmallows or turkish delight, but will still happily eat them, lol.

I love Flakes. I know it's just normal chocolate but the flakiness makes it so good!

Also like Cherry Ripes like you, MNG.

And absolutely adore Lindt chocolate balls.

Like Michaelie, I am a Lindt lover. Yes, the balls are fantastic....but I am a dark chocolate fiend - the one with 85% cocoa! Yum!

Hey Michaelie

I'm not a Turkish Delight fan either - and Flakes are, well - just a little too flakey for me. Easter egg chocolate - with a couple of pints of milk is heaven too.

Mmmmmm

When Mrs Nice Guy needs a quick fix - she dives into the pantry and sneaks a piece of dark cooking chocolate - how sad is that?

Lindt balls are pretty special though - I agree.

Stay well.

Caramello, Violet Crumble (anything honey comb really)
and Kit-Kat, then of course there is the Tim Tam, although owning the whole packet is a recipe for disaster so we usually just go for chocolate bars,,,once you start there is no stopping.....

Louie. Louie. Louie

Caramello Koala and Violet Crumble - add a fantale (complete with details on the stars) a Pollywaffle and you've got an Aussie Chocolate convention.

Do you do the whole sucking a coffee/Tia Maria through a Tim Tam thing?

. . . don't know if I can hang out til Friday Chocolate night at this rate.

Yours in chocolate . . .

Chokito bar! Or White chocolate anytime.

check out the "Ancient chocolate an alcoholic treat ' post - people have been swilling chocolate for thousands of years and maybe even becomae domesticated so they wouldn't haave to stray far form the tree.

We live in a chocolate civilisation . . .

Nice of you to drop on by.

Chokito really gets you going. Though it sounds like you're a bit of a Milky Bar Kid too.

The ancients really had their heads screwed on didn't they!

Long live ancient traditions.

It's Lindt for me.

The Belgians make pretty awesome chocolate too, but it's hard to find their best chocolate here.

On some days though, just about any chocolate will do. Not that disgusting carob muck though. Can't stomach that stuff.

violet crumbles,
Lindt,
Belgium,
Swiss,
pollywaffles,
kit kats,
smarties,
bullets,
cobbers,
clinkers, (ok, so only choc coated!),
Californian Chocolates, in the wooden box,
Haig's Chocolates, the selection box....yum
freckles,
Cadbury' 'wafer thin' serves in individual packets,
brazil, almond, hazelnut chocs,
and one that ceased to exist in the late 60's, the Honey and Almond chocolate bar....GOD THAT WAS GOOD!! Pure honey in liquid form, with a whole roasted almond in it, covered by a canopy of fine milk chocolate!!!

DROOOOOLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!

cheers MNG!

nice to read up on your posts again too!!

P.S.
By the way, I sent Jon et al my design description of the Golden Orb award, not long after I posted about it....it will be interesting to see what it ends up looking like!

P.P.S.
OH...how about a chocolate version of the Golden Orb award!!!???!!! We could be cheap and just put a Lindt choc ball inside, instead of having one made, I suppose!!

Oh, dear, time for the confessional, I've broken the chocolate fix and now I'm hooked on Liquorice, I guess I'll just have to stop buying the stuff. Guess I'm not into moderation. But, boy, have you guys got it bad.

Sympathy to Mrs. N.G.

And I didn't think men were so keen on sweets.

It may have been easier to list what you're not into my friend

PS: Would love a sneak peak at the Orb - though happy to console myself with Malteses or a Lindt version in the interim.

Cheers Bud

Have you tried Mango flavoured licorice yet?

Or are you strictly a traditionalist?

I love Lindt chocolate and particularly dark chocolate. Not only is it delicious but it has antioxidants so I kid myself that I am meeting a health need as well as an emotional one.

Now say it aloud - I"m only doing this because it's good for me.

Hi MNG,

I never met a chocolate I didn't like... my tastes have varied over the years ... and I still like to try something new... but these days, it's Lindt Orange Intense Dark.Noir for me... having some now... mmmmmmmm

Hey Lilla

Friday (and chocolate night) seems so far away . . .

To help me get through - I'll satisfy myself with a 'virtual' Lindt.

Enjoy.

I have previously written of my lust for Mallomars Really Long Link and was pleasantly surprised when a daughter came to Thanksgiving bearing a box of those delights. As to candy bars, there is nothing like a Snickers bar, absolutely nothing. If push comes to shove, I will ingest a Mounds bar. I really don’t require the fancy, schmancy chocolates of big cities in the North or from Europe.

Actually, a few Oreos and a glass of milk sounds pretty good!

Oreos and cold milk go down pretty well in our home too.
