Who's Your Favourite Classic Comedy Team?
January 22nd 2008 22:43
When it comes to comedy - there's plenty of modern day greats out there.
Jerry Seinfeld, Tim Allen, Dan Ackroyd, Chevy Chase, Dawn French, Eddie Murphy - the list goes on and on . . . and on.
But when it comes to classic comedy teams - whose your favourite?
I've nominated a few 'A' listers here - but you might want to throw in your own.
Perhaps Eric Moorcombe and Ernie Wise, Dick Rohan and Dan Martin, Donald Sutherland and Francis the Talking Mule - who knows!
Would love to get your feedback.

So (unfortunately) did the Stooges and Laurel/Hardy.
Personally though - Bud and Lou are up there for mine.

Sorry . . . that one escapes me.
Python fans should rejoice however.
Afterall - they none of them are the messiah - they're all just naughty boys.
In fact they can all be individuals - together . . .
. . . a parrot? It's an ex-parrot, no longer of the living, it's shuffled off this mortal coil . . . opps. Got carried away a little there.

Abbot and Costello really send chills up and down my spine.
The two Ronnies were great but in a totally different sense (or nonsense) whichever way you see it.

Africa Screams. Bought this for a couple of bucks and it never fails to keep me amused.
So many classics huh.

Goodies are definitely small screen iconic while French and Saunders are pretty damn good too - but will need to prove their worth to Father Time.
Nice choices.

You meant Dan Rowan and Dick Martin of Laugh-In, right?
Well, I'm just gonna confess it right here.. Moe, Larry and Curly always make me laugh.
One of my favorite teams are Derek and Clive, though. (Peter Cook and Dudley Moore back in the 60s)

Yep - that's who I meant.
Wasn't allowed to watch it when I was younger (nor Love American Style/The Box or Number 96 now I come to think about it).
Thanks for setting me straight.
Nuk Nuk Nuk - wise guy huh!
Moore and Cook were a great modern day pairing. Both seemed a little lost when separated - though Moore tried devilishing hard.

Celebrity Obsession
Another of my favourites would be the early Saturday Night Live team of Chevy Chase, Jim Belushi, Dan Aykroyd.

Jim probably won't put up too much of an arguement.

Film & TV on DVD
It's a tie for me between Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis or Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon (The Odd Couple). Both really left me in fits so my vote goes for them.
Though I do love Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello and The stooges and the Marx Brothers too.
A few runners up:
Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder - Stir Crazy
Dan Akroyd and John Belushi - The Blues Brothers
Peter Cook and Dudley Moore - Bedazzled
Alec Guiness and Peter Sellers - The Ladykillers
The Goons - How can we overlook Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers and Harry Secombe.
