What's the best costume you've ever worn?
October 15th 2007 03:03
An invite found its way to my letterbox over the weekend issuing an invite to a ‘theme party’ entitled – come as your favourite rock star!
Hardly novel – but none-the-less – full of potential – given it would at least allow grown men to play air-guitar without be lambasted.
The invite got me thinking about the other ‘fancy dress’ or costume parties I’ve embarrassed myself by attending over the years.
From the obligatory superhero to Groucho Marx, a bandana wearing taco to one half of a condiments set – there’s been quite a few.
So – having divulged just a few of my more interesting costumes – what’s yours?

Celebrity Obsession
Thankfully i did years of dancing when younger, so got to do lots of dress ups then. Being a zombie out of Michael Jackson's Thriller filmclip for one of our dances was very fun. I look great with green face make up.
Other than that, my costumes have been very half-arsed.

I have never been a condiment, though have had occasion to look quite saucy. Lol.

Mum's Word
And I got the best compliment that night. One of my closest girlfriend's, through her drunken slur, said "you really have fantastic legs". 1000 guys could have said that to me but it would not have meant as much as it did from her.
Love & stuff

Read this and immediately pictured you in that scene from 30-something and the whole Thriller thing.
Half arsed? Trust that means you have actually been the tail end of an equine suit
Cheers and thanks for sharing

I have gone as the following, with varying degrees of success...
Austin Powers (I already had the hair and build)
The Godfather (padded my cheeks out and grew a moustache for the occasion)
The Invisible Man (this looked pretty good, but wasn't practical - couldn't eat or drink or talk properly because the bandages got in the way)
Tommy Lee (my pants were very tight!)
A pimp
Zombie Elvis

Hope Tommy managed to catch up with Pam that night. As for Austin and Alotta Fagina - well . . . nuff said.
Thanks for dropping by champion.

Rugby World Cup 2007
One costume I still have is the Princess Leia one.
Also, Modesty Blaise (60s Lara Croft)
A flapper saloon mistress.
A Wallaby...a Rugby player not a marsupial... albeit, that seems to be a daily theme.
Love 70s gear...but then I wear 70s gear often not because I'm stuck in a groove!
Ooooh...once dressed up as Lady Miss Kier from Dee-Lite when 'Groove is in the Heart' was big! D-lovely!
I love Wonder Woman but WW is a very popular choice and there can only be one.
So...which Rock Star are you going as MNG??
Hope you and yours are well buddy. MrsNG well?

White singlet
Denim short shorts,
Boofed up beehive hair,
Thick black trademark eyeliner,
Pin up ladies drawn on my arms as tatts
I was very proud of my meticulous attention to detail. I had people asking my for my autograph!
Another costume party I went as Sailor Mars from the Sailor scouts. But nothing tops Amy! Can we show photos in comments? prob not! oh well you can imagine it haha.

You've an ecletic mix there girl - though I do worry about the whole Princess Leia, Lara Croft thread that seems to run through your thinking. . . best I not go there!
Hmmm - thought about Ossie Osborne - but happy to be in receipt of any suggestions.
S'pose Donny Osmond doesn't really count huh?
Stay well my friend.

Can't see anywhere in the fine print which prohibits photographs on fully formated comments - I think we're all looking forward to seeing Amy.

I had an extensive costume collection at one time. (I was the costumer for school plays). I adore dressing up for parties:
Here are some of my favorites
Ed Grimley (Martin Short alter ego)
Cindy Lauper (Girls just want to have fun)
Cereal Killer (got small cereal boxes, stabbed them with a fork and painted the "stab" wounds red and attached them to a body suit
Captain Hook
Miinie Purl
A Dancing Queen (HAHAHA.... you know what I mean)
Great post

Think I'll have to throw my own 'get well soon Mrs Nice Guy party' just so I can wear that myself.
Owe you one Mis.
