Shows We Loved - The Munsters

If you recognize the address 1313 Mockingbird Lane, you probably grew up in the 1960s and early 70s and never missed a chance to see the Munsters.
Featuring Herman and Lily, Grandpa, Eddie, and Marilyn the program ran concurrently with The Addams Family the idea of a family of comical monsters was first suggested to Universal Studios in the late 1940s but didn't see development until the early 1960s,
The series aired at night once a week in black-and-white on the CBS from September 1964 to May 1966, for 70 episodes and was eventually cancelled following competition from ABC's Batman, which was in full color.
Though decidedly odd, the Munsters considered themselves fairly typical working-class Americans of the era.
It was with a deal of notriety that only last week - for Munsters child star Butch Patrick (Eddie) was reported lucky to be alive after most overdosing on drugs days after walking out of a rehabilitation centre in New Jersey earlier this month (Nov10).
The 57 year old, has long battled problems with cocaine, marijuana and alcohol, but he recently hit rock bottom after learning the velvet jacket he wore on the hit 1960s TV series had been stolen and put on sale online.
He voluntarily checked into a treatment centre in New Jersey to conquer his demons, but quit the programme shortly afterwards and embarked on a near-fatal drink and drugs binge last week

That is terrible to hear about Eddy, seems so many of the child stars have come acropper...
One would think he could get the police to track down the seller of that jacket and get it back...
