Time to wind back the clock and take a look at what were the top five songs on the Australian music charts on this day back in 1979.

Decrepancies will naturally exist - depending on which chart lists you check out - but having rummaged through a few old files though I would share a few iconic pop culture classics.


No 5. Bee Gees - Tragedy

No. 4 Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive

No. 3 Doobie Brothers - What a Fool Believes

No 2. Amii Stewart - Knock on Wood

And the number one song in Sydney at least on this day back in 1979 - drum roll please....................... ......
