What's Your Favourite Dr Seuss Book?
November 1st 2007 21:16
"I do not like Green Eggs and Ham, I do not like them, Sam I Am".
Is this the most famous line from a Dr Seuss book ever?
Going through Miss 10-year-olds book shelf last night I chanced upon our collection of Dr Seuss titles - and felt an instant compulsion to sit down and read each.
"Left Foot, Left Foot, Right Foot Right, Feet in the Morning Feet at Night"
"One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish"
And so it went on . . . and on . . . and on.
An hour and a half later - having satisfied my thirst (and by this time joined by Miss 10-year-old) the notion of actually packing up the good Dr and his musings and passing them on left us both flummixed.
So, neatly stacked, back they went into the book shelf - silent stress busting sentinals - a reminder that the real world isn't all its cracked up to be sometimes.

I love my job, I love the pay.
I love it more and more each day.
I love my boss; he/she is the best.
I love his boss and all the rest.
I love my office and its location.
I hate to have to go on vacation.
I love my furniture, drab and gray,
And the paper that piles up every day.
I love my chair in my padded cell.
There's nothing else I love so well.
I love to work among my peers.
I love their leers and jeers and sneers.
I love my computer and its software;
I hug it often though it don't care.
I love each program and every file,
I try to understand once in a while.
I'm happy to be here, I am, I am;
I'm the happiest slave of my Uncle Sam.
I love this work; I love these chores.
I love the meetings with deadly bores.
I love my job-I'll say it again.
I even love these friendly men,
These men who've come to visit today
In lovely white coats to take me away.
PS I have no idea who to credit for that one. Cheers.

Did I ever tell you that Mrs. McCave
Had twenty-three sons, and she named them all Dave?
Well, she did. And that wasn't a smart thing to do.
You see, when she wants one, and calls out "Yoo-Hoo!
Come into the house, Dave!" she doesn't get one.
All twenty-three Daves of hers come on the run!
This makes things quite difficult at the McCaves'
As you can imagine, with so many Daves.
And often she wishes that, when they were born,
She had named one of them Bodkin Van Horn.
And one of them Hoos-Foos. And one of them Snimm.
And one of them Hot-Shot. And one Sunny Jim.
And one of them Shadrack. And one of them Blinkey.
And one of them Stuffy. And one of them Stinkey.
Another one Putt-Putt. Another one Moon Face.
Another one Marvin O'Gravel Balloon Face.
And one of them Ziggy. And one Soggy Muff.
One Buffalo Bill. And one Biffalo Buff.
And one of them Sneepy. And one Weepy Weed.
And one Paris Garters. And one Harris Tweed.
And one of them Sir Michael Carmichael Zutt.
And one of them Oliver Boliver Butt.
And one of them Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate . . . .
But she didn't do it. And now it's too late.

My husband, who just turned 51, can almost quote the entire Green Eggs & Ham book by heart and our kids are 12 and 16 - scary! Now if he could just remember where he put the car keys 5 minutes ago!

Thanks for dropping by.
That's outrageous.
Perhaps you need to come up with something to help your hubby things like his car keys.
I did not leave them in the car
I did not leave them in the bar
I did not put them on a chair
I can not find them anywhere
Cheers
