Sideshow Alley: The Best and Worst Of . . .

April 5th 2009 22:49
Sideshow
From the Cha Cha to the Dodgem Cars, Ghost Train to Ferris Wheel, sideshow alley has drawn kids and adults alike to it like a magnet for way too many years.

And with this week's Sydney Royal Easter Show expected to attract upwards of 800,000 people over the next two weeks - I suspect the lustre of sideshow alley and all its rides will once again prove either the making or breaking of many.

Of course my limited exposure to show/carnival rides was shown up when having delighted in the whole Disneyland, California Disney and Universal Studio's experience - the mix of terror, excitment and sheer bang for your buck exhiliation value was heightened ten-fold - with high tech gagetry, interactive ghoulishness and just out and out heart in your mouth rides made it a place which has even adults clammering for more.

So what's been your experience?

Do you have a favourite amusement ride?

The Wildmouse, River Caves or perhaps the Rotor?

Or perhaps something more extreme like the Tower of Terror or the god-damn chilling ride atop that skyscraper in Vegas . . .

Would love to hear from you all.

you know i actually have an irrational (well semi-rational) fear of amusement park rides . . . i dont even like walking near them when theyre switched on because i think they are maintained poorly and a bolt is going to snap off and a big chunk of the mechanical monstrousity (like a carriage or a spoke or arm its attached to) will fly of and come hurtling towards my head CRUSHING ME!

extreme hey? lol

plus shows with amusement rides usually smell like hay!

not my bag, baby . . .

I guess then that the newest (sick) piece of carnival fun - where people are basically afforded the sensation of being buried alive wouldn't be your go either - huh?

Not for the faint hearted and certainly not my cuppa tea,

Always a pleasure Morgan.

i think id rather be buried alive than go near the swinging momentum of a large rusting machine . . . not much of a choice though
