They Started On Daytime TV . . .

Marisa Tomei has almost been a second class celebrity in spite her seeming popularity with garden variety movie goers.
From bit roles in The Flamingo Kid through to Wild Hogs and Wrestler, Tomei made her first appearance on daytime television in As The World Turns.
No doubt some of Tomei's attraction could be put down to her pixie-ish good looks and girl next door demeanour and was included at #18 on the FHM annual list of "100 Sexiest Females in the world" in 2009.
Tomei also co-starred with Mel Gibson in the hugely successful romantic comedy What Women Want (2000) and during the 2002 movie award season, she proved her first Oscar win as Joe Pesci's hilariously foul-mouthed, scene-stealing girlfriend in My Cousin Vinny (1992) no fluke when she was nominated a second time for the critically acclaimed dark drama, In the Bedroom (2001).
Known best for her roles as characters that are, or have been in, damaged relationships and/or have emotionally damaged lives Tomei has yet to genuinely crack the A-list though with quotes such as . . .
'I don't prefer much of film over stage... The only thing I prefer is the paycheque . . . ' is it any wonder she probably puts a few noses out of joint.
