Battle of the Cartoon Animals - Who Are Your Top 5?
March 12th 2008 04:06
Hey Rocky – watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat . . . .
But Bullwinkle – that trick never works!
Presto!
The virtual menagerie of cartoon fauna that inhabited our screens in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s was, well . . . roughly incalculable.
From Bugs Bunny to Daffy Duck, Underdog to Batfink and his ‘supersonic sonar radar’ – almost every imaginable creature (great and small) had their 15 minutes in the sun, some spending a little more time in the spotlight – some, a little less.
Magilla Gorilla, Kimba The White Lion, Mighty Mouse, Babar the Elephant, Foghorn Leghorn, Porky Pig, Tom and Jerry, Hucklebury House, Snagglepuss, Tweetypie, Courageous Cat, Fearless Fly, Deputy Dawg, Yogi Bear and Boo Boo – the list goes on and on and categorically on!
But who really rate?
Who crack the top 5 cartoon animals of all time?
Did Hokey Wolf do it for you?
Or were you more a Lippy the Lion and Hardy Har Har fan?
Was Scoobie Doo king of the kids or did Top Cat, Benny and Choo Choo rule the roost?
Would love to get your opinion.

Now we're going back ... I grew up with Top Cat... but you already know Scooby Doo is my favourite, and not being a big fan of watching everything on TV - in fact very little - my other favourite animals came along in my children's Disney movies.
Spirit (the horse)
Do Insects Count?
Then it'd be Zee from 'ANTZ' The voice of course by Woody Allen.
Tin Tin's dog was pretty brave too and I loved Augie Doogie, Ze Goode Wolf and ole blue dog himself, Huckleberry Hound ...
"Oh my daarlin'
Oh my Daarlin'
Oh my daarlin' Clementyne...

Interesting that you should include Casper, Yo Sammity Sam and Fred Flintstone in your cartoon animal collection
Though I did hear on the grapevine that Fred was a bit of a tiger when it came to Wilma.

Garfield's smugness used to annoy the *%!$ out of me - but the older I get - the more I appreciate his wittisms.

Huck Hound - would go close to being in my top 5 definitely.
Insects probably count - in which case Fearless Fly and Atom Ant would be right up there in contention too.
Sorry - I was a cartoon tragic as a kid - though I guess that shows.
Thanks for popping in.

It's a bit like going into a lolly (candy) store and being told to you can only have half a handful really isn't it?
Always a pleasure

I always hated Road Runner, he was such a smug pain in the butt, so I wanted Wilee Coyote to catch him.
Oh I used to love Heckel and Jeckel the crows, how good were they? Oh, and Huckleberry Hound. Snagglepuss.
Scooby I liked, but I really loved Scrappy Doo he was way cool!

Didn't you so much (just once) for Wyl E. Coyote to catch that smug damn bird.
Heckyl and Jeckyl were great too - always remember them as getting the gig before the movie started at the cinema in the (oohh too far away days).
Sorry - was never a big fan of Scrappy Doo though - looking back - reeked of jumping the shark in the same way the Fonz had the little Fonz in the dying days of Happy Days.
Cheers and have a great weekend.
