Women In Uniform - TV's Top Female Cops

Cops Are Tops
You know, when it came to the long arm of the law - I was always a fan of shows such as Columbo, Starsky and Hutch, CHiPs, Homocide yaddah, yaddah . . . where the cops generally wore the pants.

That was until Cagney and Lacey (Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless) came on the scene - and the world according to law enforcement was turned on its head.


Suddenly I (and I'm guessing a few of us) couldn't get enough of women in uniform!

Angie Dickinson's Sgt Suzanne Anderson -(or Pepper to her pals), Monica Rawling, The Shield (Glenn Close), Olivia Benson, Law and Order: SVU (Mariska Hargitay) even the gang from Charlies Angels) though not strictly cops I guess - found their way to our screens - and in some cases our hearts.

So - when it comes to women in uniform - did you have a favourite?

Movies and Life
When I was growing up in England, Jill Gascoine in A Gentle Touch always stood out. And after that it was Helen Mirrem in Prime Suspect.

At the moment, I would have to say Helen Mirren, and Kyra Sedgwick in The Closer. I liked Anita Hegh in Stingers too.

Mariska Hargitay is right up there but I STILL remember Honey West from way back when! I guess Emma Peel doesn't really qualify as a cop!

I have to go with Gwen in Torchwood. As one of the guys at works says "She's a gap tooth sweetie!" I'm thinking he's liking more than her smile. I happen to like her spunk.
