Which TV Car Would You Most Like To Own?
November 22nd 2007 20:45
When I was a kid - I could never make up my mind whether it would be cooler to own the Batmobile or the hot rod in the Munsters TV series.
Both were pretty neat in their own way, but then again so was the Red GTO Davy Jones and Monkees cruised around in - not to mention that little VW BatFink shared with his co-hort 'Karate'.
As I entered my teens - my flavour for iron horses changed - and suddenly I found I myself betwitx either Starsky and Hutch's Red Ford Gran Torino (complete with big white racing stripe down the side) and the ever so debonaire looking Ferrari driven by Tom Selleck in Magnum PI.
Along the way of course everthing from The A-team's Ford Transit van to the ever so self efacing "Kitt" and Miami Vice's Ferrari Spyder Daytona came into calculations - but alas - none ever quite made it into the garage.
So do you have a favourite?
Perhaps it was Penelope Pitstop's little pink number from the Wacky Races - or Fred and Barney's self propelled gem.
Did Howard Cunningham's Happy Days DeSoto do it for you or was the Brady Bunch's family wagon something you longed for?
Please, steer me in which direction you would head.

Thought you'd be more of a General Lee fan (from Dukes of Hazard).
Cheers

well you ceetianly have picked some of my childhood favourites, Batmobile, (I had it and the Bat Boat!), Munsters hotrod, (don't think they made a toy of this), but Lady Penelope's huge Roller with six wheels, rocket engine etc, was groovy, but too pink for my childhood tastes, and even now...(must be some vestige of heterosexuality left in me!) any other colour and I would love it!
007's Aston Martin, the original one, (I worked with the guy who created it, and all those gizmoes actually worked, well, except the machine guns!) and Steve McQueen's Ford Mustang, in the movie "Bullit!"
God I loved that movie sequence going down the steep dippy streets in San Fran!! The camera angle, attached at the bumper bar and bonnet etc on the stunt car, was a first for film, and made some people almost throw up in the cinema when it first came out!
I wanted to go San Fran myself after that movie, and Disneyland of course...those whirling cups and saucers, you saw them all the time in the promo for the TV show...sigh..
cheers...ahh the memories....(sadly, I never made it to the States!)

Always wondered about Parker?
Yep - that 'stang' of McQueen's is neat. Every boy should own or at least drive either a Mustang or a Corvette in their lifetime - just so they can tick it off the 'to do list'.
Read about the guy that bought the Bat Mobile recently.
And sorry Fog - but she's not up for sale.
Pity you never made it to SF - my good fortune led me there once - hard work (and copious amount of cash) is taking the entire MNG clan back there next year.
Thanks for dropping in buddy.
Stay well

I'm still thinking about chocolate from your last post...
I always wanted the Bentley from The Avengers and I can't remember which program had a Jaguar, but I wanted that one too....

There was a show that Gene Barry did as well in the 60's called Burke's law and he drove round in a flash looking number too.
Or Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)? Think one of those guys pedalled around in an e-type.
BTW - it was Cherry Ripe's, Crunchies, Bounty Bars, Caramello's and Boost Bar's all round for Chocolate Night last night at the palatial residence.

Yes, I think it might've been The Saint. I know it was some suave bloke with a snazzy car. That's about all I can remember, plus the yearnings.
Hmm, I wondered what you chocolate surprise you had last night. I was desperate for some but too lazy to go to the shop (or is that willpower?). I asked my husband, but he forgot....hmmm, how can you forget chocolate?! He's lucky I'm still talking to him...

Saint's Volvo
Actually, I had a personal run in with one...it backed into my parked car, and the owner, a female driver with a haughty voice and a big hairdo, then had the temerity and audacity to try and blame me for the accident!! I simply pointed out that my car's engine was switched off....she then shut her dumb fat mouth!
cheers and BEEP BEEP!!

But if I had to pick a new show car, it'd be the '67 Chevy Impala the Winchester brothers drive around in Supernatural.

Nice of you to drop by!
The DeLoren complete with time machine may be a little hard to come by - but I suspect the Chevy Impala may be something to set your sites on.
As for the Batmobile - well I think that's earmarked only for those who choose to wear the their shorts on the outside - but who am I to judge?
Lovely to have made your acquaintence - hope you stop by again real soon.
