Do Men Make Better Friends Than Women?

It there real reason that movies such as 'Mean Girls' are not only produced but do a roaring trade at the cinema?
Kelly Osbourne says most of her friends are men because women are “jealous haters”.
While Megan Fox says she does not have many female friends because they are all too jealous and mean.
"I don't trust people in this industry, but I especially don't trust girls in this industry, because it's incredibly competitive, and I'm just not interested," she said.
This begs the question ... do men make better friends than women?
Or do men (in their own way bitch, whinge, gossip and compare themselves to their friends just as much?
Then again can they offer the comfort, support, understanding and fun that a woman can?

overall i have more male friends but there are some things a woman just needs other women for
