The 3 Stooges

Ah, wise guy . . . nuk nuk nuk . . . whoop, whoop, whoop, whoop, whoop . . .
Inimitable lines - three inimitable characters - ladies and gentlemen, I present to you The 3 Stooges!
Best defined by their sole monikers of Larry, Moe and Curly, The 3 Stooges were American vaudeville personified - making their mark predominantly in the mid to late 30s, 40s and early 50s.
Using their trademark physical farce and extreme slapstick, the film trio was originally composed of Moe Howard, brother Shemp Howard and longtime friend Larry Fine.
Curly Howard replaced brother Shemp, who later returned when Curly suffered a debilitating stroke in 1946.
After Shemp's death in 1955, he was replaced by comedian Joe Besser who eventually was replaced himself by Joe "Curly-Joe" DeRita.
Predominantly however it was the line up of Larry, Moe and either Shemp or Curly who endeared themselves to us with classic trademark stunts - which kids around the world would try out on unsuspecting little brothers.
Of course it would be ludicrous to suggest that TV censors and political correct execs would even allow our precious little darlings the chance to see the nose pulling, cranium crunching, face-slapping, butt kicking trio in full flight - but what memories!
A few interesting (but useless pieces of trivia about the Stooges) which you can dazzle your friends and colleagues
The Stooges as a team made a total of 207 films
Moe appeared in 4 films without the Stooges including, "Doctor Death, Seeker of Souls" in 1973. This was his last film
The only episode that all three Howard brothers appeared together in was "Hold that lion" from 1947.
Curly had his stroke while filming 'Half-wits holiday' in 1946
The three stooges produced 156, 5 minute cartoons for TV
Moe and Larry passed away in 1975. Shemp passed away in 1955. Curly passed away in 1952 at the age of 48
