It was all a air-fairy – and other than ‘you were close to your father//mother (for heavens sake if you weren’t you wouldn’t call would you) – and the obligatory – ‘she is telling me something that I can’t quite work out’ (insert letter, name, number or object here) there were of course no specifics – only vague – lead me type answers.
Of course as soon as a listeners would confirm the existence of a reasonably generic name or object//birthday – this gave rise to conversation which went something like this . . .
Mystic: “Now dear, they’re telling me there’s something in your life that’s worrying you at the moment – and something to do with a birthday that’s coming up . . .
Caller: “Yes, I’m a little worried about my daughter and her birthday is in July.
Mystic: “Does the number 2 or 3 mean anything to you?
Caller: “Well her birthday is the 12th.
Mystic: “Yes – I can see that she’s telling me about a birthday or candles or something – perhaps a birthday from a few years ago – now she passed over not too long after that didn’t she?
Caller: “Yes – it was in October”
Mystic – “And I can see her touching her heart – was it something to do with her heart that took her from us?
Caller: Um – no not really.
Mystic: “No wait a minute – she’s still talking about your daughter and how much you love her and how much she misses you both – but that she is still with you as you walk through life. She says not to worry – and that any problems you have will eventually sort themselves out . . .
Yaddah yaddah yaddah . . .
Now – I’m not one to say there isn’t an afterlife – but there’s gotta be some ‘shonks’ out there praying on people.
Has anyone actually used some of these mediums to contact those lost children or unsolved slayings to help solve the crimes – ala Medium or Ghost Whisperer?
Let’s find out what happened to Harold Holt?
How far can we go back?
How can these people summons the dead at any given moment.
Could be contact Napoleon for example?
Would love to hear your take on all this.

I want to believe that mediums and psychics exist. I think they maybe do? But, there are so many charlatans out there, it makes me just want to write off the whole concept. I know exactly the kind you're talking about:
medium: I see a name...it's a D name. Do you know anyone on the other side with a D name.
Subject: No
medium: Well, it could mean there is a D in the name, like Maddox. Anything?
Subject: No
medium: Do you know anyone who knows anyone else who knows someone on the other side with a D name or a D in their name?
Subject: No
medium: Do you have a pet Dog on the other side?
Subject: NO
medium: Do you know anyone on the other side?
subject: My father passed away.
medium: Well, that's who this is. It's your Dad. D for dad.
subject: That's incredible! Hi dad!

They do have a psychic on 2DayFM who does some good advice - they ask her a question and she just straight out tells them what the other side says.
Q) Should I get married to John?
A) They say NO WAY, run for the hills
Or similar - I like it and she never tones bad news down. People do not always get the answer they want.
