Tales of the unexpected, ghoulish reverberations and fiendish apparitions.
Cushions planted against your chest as you stare hypnotically at the small screen terror that awaits.
While discussing the very existance of our not so mortal counterparts the other day - the question of ghosts and their role in televison came up.
Now for the newbies engaged in the the discussion, shows such as Ghost Whisperer, Medium, The Ghost and Mrs Muir and Most Haunted came immediately to mind, while the . . . well more mature among us pointed to programs such as Randall and Hopkirk Deceased and of course our favourite ghost - Casper!
But it wasn't too long before the well started to run dry when it came to TV programs which either featured or at least had a recurring theme of ghosts.
