Battle of the Big Hair Bands

February 18th 2009 21:16
Did you grow up indulging in 70s, 80s and 90's pop metal and 'Big Hair' bands?

Does screaming heavy metal glam vocals and long-haired guitar players with whammy bars get you excited?

Do the names Quiet Riot, Hush, KISS and Motley Crue get you hot under the collar?

Can Guns n' Roses and Van Halen justifyably qualify as Big Hair Bands?

Do the Bangles (or any girl band for that matter) have a right to be included in the great 'Hair' line-ups?

Who are the class leaders in the Big Hair stakes?

. . . and more importantly who are your favourites?

Oh yes. Metal hair bands are my thing. Let's start out with
Bon Jovi
Skid Row
Motley Crue
Aerosmith
Poison
Cinderella
Whitesnake
Warrant
Mr Big
Guns 'n' Roses
Van Halen

And that's all I can think of right now.

Those were good times

Love & stuff

Sorry. Big hair and hair bands were never my thing either. I did go along with it at one stage just to be "in" but I always cringed at the photos afterwards...and they said the '70s were the decade that style forgot.

Guess it's a case of you really had to be there to appreciate the whole big hair thing . . . it really was for its time . . .

As for spinal tap - what a crack-up!

Cheers

Hey M

I can't believe you didn't include the rock gods themselves - KISS!

I'm mortified . . .

Janet

Sometimes it was just worth closing your eyes and taking in the music huh?

In fact it was usually about closing your eyes and sometimes . . . just sometimes . . . using earplugs as well.

Always a pleasure

Stay well

*lol* I thought I was the only one on the planet who ever knew about Hush ... I figured that all those other people at the concert in Hyde Park in 1976 must have been beamed up to the mother ship and I was somehow left behind?

REALLY nice to know there is one other ...

I only ever liked one song from Kiss, one from Europe, three from Bon Jovi and only one again from Whitesnake ... so although i like my men a little scruffy, I guess Im not all the way into completely fluffy?

Unlike samson of olde, I guess hair doesnt always mean talent in the 20th Century?

Nice.

Lilla ...
