Inventions that changed the world!
February 24th 2009 22:17
The other night we were discussing the amazing life of Helen Keller - when the subject of braille and its ingenuity came to light.
Talk quickly turned to the inventiveness of mankind and the resourcefulness of some of the many labour saving/communication and medical innovations we've come up with over the years.
From the light globe to the printing press - telephones to the automobile, X-rays to the splitting of the atom.
But what would make your Top 10?
Television?
The Microchip?
The Wheel?
Cast your vote - in the end (in a vain attempt to assist daughter no.3) - I'm going to have to cull - so lobby hard.

That must have been one of the best inventions ever!
We could talk with one another. Really, wasn't that such a good thing?

Not such a good thing at my place.
Mind you - if I ever get my hands on the person who then invented sending the bills - I'll neck them . . .

It just proved to me that every invention we ever create actually sends us backwards....When the ancient civilizations dreamed of us, they dreamed of people doing nothing, enjoying life, while machines worked tirelessly. They never envisioned a 50 or greater hour working week!
Still.....I love emailing my mate in Canada. We would never have met without the internet.

If not then soap is indeed way up there as a smart Darko boy once said.
