Happy 3rd Birthday MNG!
June 17th 2010 20:26
Yes, the most hollow of self congratulatory posts. But after three years 546 posts, 6449 comments and 52,263 votes I officially celebrate 3 years with Orble this weekend.
Navel gazing, hollow - perhaps. But thankful all the same to everyone who has befriended either me personally or my little Pop Culture Blog along the way.
From those who pop in occassionally to those who I've come to know either 'virtually' or in the flesh - thankyou all - you know who you are.
From humble beginnings, the Orble community has grown to be one of the few whose populus is refreshingly tolerant and in the main well mannered - with the undesirables quickly being either weeded out or eventually falling on their own sword.
Occassionally I've spoken out and occassionally stumbled - but those who have mattered have stood by me with a sense of compassion and a little commonsense.
I've seen a lot of good people come and go through the Orble network - too many to name individually - and more being attracted to the network every day.
Some are expert in their field, some are great writers, some with resourceful insights and some simply passionate about their subject matter and the networking opportunities that come with being involved with such a great bunch of people.
While it was never my intent - I've managed to climb a few mountains and hoist a few flags during my time with Orble - but in essence it's the people who have kept me here.
It wouldn't be fair to single out those who have so often gone out of their way to drop me a line, send me an email, pick up the phone or just dropped in for a chat - but to those friends past, present and future - my thanks to you all - I know that in the main - none of you actively seek the kudos or the limelight you so richly deserve.
At this juncture I guess it's also time to announce that with so much happening in the 'Nice Guy's' life at present - that I'm going to have to start winding back my active involvement with the site.
Having jumped on board the good ship Orble when their were just a few hundred (if that) players - to where it is today - it's time that new voices be heard and fresh faces take their rightful place in the dynasty.
This won't preclude me from the occassional weekly post (or should the bug take hold) even more regular postings - but as with life - things need to grow organically - and move on.
So this isn't goodbye, but rather a chance to draw breath. I'm sure my modest ramblings will still find some favour among those of you who have done me the courtesy over the years - and I will most definitely be keeping my hand in as far as supporting the network - it's new chums, my old friends and those who I've yet to meet.

So as a 3 year old the temper tantrums should be passing and your gross motor skills are improving - mighty handy since you need to be able to type.
Happy Birthday MNG.
