Guitar Hero - Or Just Another Cheap Sell?
November 10th 2008 03:10
Having just caught up with the thousands (well not quite) of emails sitting idle in my inbox - I was greeted by this little piece of modern day pop culture - which by anyone's standards is a flagrant cheap shot to sell Guitar Hero to testosterone filled lads (of all ages)
Heidi Klum - who no doubt had severe reservations about being filmed in her underwear - regails in her role as the modern day female equivalent of a young Tom Cruise from Risky (or should it be be Frisky) Business.
Words probably won't do the clip or the retiring Ms Klum justice - so I'll let you be the judge.

They are great commercials. They are also not limited to Miss Klum either. There is another one with a cast of sports heroes. It starts off with A-Rod (Alex Rodriguez - Third Baseman for the New York Yankees) sliding out into the doorway with his guitar. Next Tony Hawk (Skateboarding legend) sliding out carrying his drum set. Next out is Michael Phelps with his bass guitar. Finally out comes the lead singer, Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers basketball superstar). All four are wearing white socks, white underwear, and the red striped buttondown shirt like Cruise did, and they begin rocking out to the song. They really are going all out to launch the newest version. I mean imagine how much they had to pay just these four superstars to appear.
They had to do something to get into a broader market, since their original game only had a guitar. They are now trying to catch up to Rock Band (which just released its own sequel) which had all three instruments and the microphone available.
From this commercial alone the drum set looks a bit more advanced than Rock Band.

I'm sure it drives a stake into her soul ever time she bare's it . . .
That soul must be looking like a pin cushion by now I suspect.
BTW - congrats on cracking the Top 20 - well done you!
