Who's Your TV Hero?
July 21st 2008 01:11
Remember The Greatest American Hero?
As a television show it probably didn't really stack up - and the best that could be said about it was that it had a catchy theme song.
But what of television's heroes - caped or otherwise.
From Buffy the Vampire Slayer through to The Fonz - there's 'heroes' at every stop.
Cartoon heroes like Astro Boy or TMNT's.
Animal heroes like Rin Tin Tin, the Littlelist Hobo or Skippy.
Perhaps Xena - Warrior Princess, The Lone Ranger or David Carradine as Kwai Chang Caine from the Kung Foo Series is more your genre.
Whoever, whatever . . . do you have a TV Hero?

Wow - Bill Oddie (classic series)
Mike (as in Nesmith) and Commander Stryker from UFO - set in the ever futuristic 1980's - boy didn't that kill the opportunity for repeats.
Nice guest list.
Cheers

Actually I remember the opening credits of the UFO series flashing 1980 in bold letters across the screen. Cracked me up when the played repeats on TV in the eighties. That and the Purple hair on the all the Moon Base Women.
I left off Mr Spock by mistake, whom my wife considers that I am most like. I don't see it.
And the Baldy scientist from Space 1999.
Why do these idiots put dates on their Sci Fi's?

Balki from Perfect Strangers. I liked the Dance of Joy.
Also, the guy that was on Manimal. He turned into a black panther, remember?

I remember thinking the same thing when UFO first found its way to our screens . . .
BTW - what's wrong with purple hair?
Have to admit though - whenever I see the models on Deal or No Deal - I quiver with the throught that the entire female moon base populus have found new careers on Australian television

The Fonz is almost an anti-hero isn't he. The rebel who actually does have a cause.
Yep - he's up there on my list too.
As for Jack . . . he along with a couple of others are on the Mrs NG hit parade for sure.
Thanks for stopping by

If I had to choose one from your list - I'd go with David Addison - didn't the two of them have something special happening on that program!
Liked him almost as much as Capt Furillo in HIll Street Blues - now there was a series which was the forefunner to today's supposed hits like ER as far as continuity in programming.
Stay sane fella

I'm a bit of an old-school Trekie - so Kirk, Bones, Scottie, O'Hura, Chekov et al are still entrenched in my thinking.
Their plantary adversaries were however - not too disimilar from those who frequented Lost in Space for realism . . . ouch!
Stay well

Diana Rigg from the Avengers . . .
You know - her and Sharon McCredie from The Champions would make a great duo.

And yes, Diana Rigg - but Patrick McNee was pretty cool, too. Love a man who can fight with a bowler and brolly, doncha know, what?
And in the anti-hero stakes, Ian Richardson in House of Cards
