I Loved/Loathed High School Because . . . .
May 5th 2008 23:21
Most people tend to fall into one of two categories.
They either loved high school, the pranks, the shinanigans, the friendships (oh and of course the education) OR they loathed each and every day they had to traipse through the gates of these halls of learning.
I fortunately fell into the former. With high school holding not only fond memories but friendships which last to this day.
Of course times change - and while my own kids are now experiencing life as secondary students first hand - there's still 'cliques' and heirachial groups which I suspect continue to determine your loving or loathing of these teen years.
Essentially though - it appears the bold and the beautiful still hold sway followed closely by kids with a predisposition for sporting greatness - but increasingly kids are more accepting of kids for whatever reason (provided their not snitches or whingers apparently).
So were you part of a social 'clan' during your school days?
Were you one of the cool kids?
Were you a library dweller or belong to the photographic club?
Were you so busy socialising that even the thought of memorising Pythagorian theory was all too much of strain.
Did the term multiple choice refer more to what you might do on the weekend than an upcoming test?
Would love to hear your spin on things.

As a wog-immigrant growing up in English school and later as a wog-pomme immigrant growing up in an Australian school *chuckle* I sort of kept to myself, yet was a kind of honourary member of all the little clicks.
I usually hung about until things got too heavy to handle and then would take off to my own space again - usually in the library or art room (when allowed). What I could never understand was how people loved living drama so much... not much seems to have changed *laughs*

What!
They didn't sing/dance all day everyday where you went to school?
I can't believe it!
Next you'll tell me that you also didn't have the romance that was Grease or the fun that was Welcome Back Kotter.
