HOLLYWOOD BECKONS - Which movie would you choose to be enveloped?
October 3rd 2007 20:14
MNG's kids 'Chillaxed' last night in front of the box and took in a movie where the kids were transported (a al Purple Rose of Cairo) through the fourth dimension and into the film itself.
"Awwarr - that would be sooooo cool dad", became the universal catchcry, as we discussed the virtues of which movie they would choose to be enveloped.
"Hmmmmm - I'd want to - no wait - ohhh - I don't know."
"How about Grease", came the reply from MNG's 10yo.
"No - said Miss 13, I reckon Charlies Angels would be cool"
Miss 15 - always one to contemplate every option before making any decision in life - is still holding court.
So if you could break through enter the world of any movie - which would it be?

For me I always wanted to cruise the universe in the Millenium Falcon with Han and Chewie so the answer has to be Star Wars: A New Hope.

Thanks - you're the first to have commented on the banner. A bit twee - but hey - it's fun don't you think?
Indiana Jones - great choice - though the pit of snakes and the occassional rat infested cavern would probably put me off a little.
Genuinely appreciate your kind words.
Thanks for calling in.

I'm with Lara and your Miss15...tough choice!...and if the choice is to not only be transported but become the protagonist...then I want to be Wonder Woman or Modesty Blaise or Lara Croft!
...or a Wallaby...not a marsupial...
Fun times MNG...hope you're well buddy and enjoying the brilliant holiday weather...

Oh good question!! Charlie's Angels would be cool. I always wanted to be the kind of girl who open a can of whoop ass on somebody.
Ever seen the movie Human Traffic? I've felt like I was enveloped in that movie a time or two (in my younger, crazier days). Fun times.
I always wanted to be Princess Leia, so Star Wars would be up there for me too.
I wouldn't mind living Oceans 11. Not for any other reason than because it all looked like they were having such fun!
You've got me thinking now....

I saw it when about 11 or 12. Such a simple and great movie; set in Paris...my fave city...and about a kid and a red balloon...I wanted to be his pal, coz I identified with his alienation and aloneness, and being able to make his own fun.
If I could be Luke Skywalker, or Superman, or Aunty Mame...LOVE to be her!!! Or her god child!!
hehe!!
a fun post old top MNG!!
And your new banner looks great!!
cheers and here's to fantasy land!

I reckon I`d love to be in 'Never ending story' or perhaps 'Around the World in 80 days' ----- hhhmmm perhaps the India Jones movies too!
Maybe 'Back to the Future' and just a quick pop in to one of the Karate Kid movies...
This is too hard to choose!

Lara Croft or Wonder Woman - the mind boggles
. . . and yes - the weather a present is brilliant - longboard under one arm and on the hunt for nice little 3ft right handers.
Always a pleasure to have you drop by.

Never got into Lord of the Rings - but can certainly see why it's attracted such an enormous following.
Enid Blyton was such a prolific children's author - and so well loved by boys and girls alike.
I agree - it would make a great film.

Usually I lament warping of novels in film adaptations, but I would just have to let Jane Austen turn in her grave in that particular instance!
Fabulous question (and very effective prompt)!

You're 100% correct about Disney films - when you say some of their source material is quite dark.
I'm guessing you've a preference for their animated features rather than film/films such as Homeward Bound, Huck Fin etc - and The Little Mermaid is a great choice!
Just remember - you're not allowed to swim to the surface until your 15th birthday.
Thanks for dropping by and sharing

Thanks for your kind compliment on the banner. I think its a whimsical yet pertinent.
The Red Balloon's a nice choice too. Though I would suggest given Kylie W's longing for hair rolls and John D's desire to cruise the vast emptyness of space in the Millenium Falcon - that there's some synergies going on here.
Always great to have you call into MNG's cyber 'speak easy'.
Cheers

Flying dogs (or whatever they were) always amused me when I'd watch this movie with my kids when they were young.
Ya know - Back To The Future would be pretty cool.
And yes - it's a toughie alright.
Thankyou for stopping by - the light's always on.

Not the white one with bagel 'do. The other one.
...it's 'modified' though. Comes with a light sabre thigh holster. And no neck chain.
Also would like to be in the opening credit sequence of the Bond and Austin Powers movies!
...oh and the mermaid in 'Splash'!
(Nina jogged this memory!)

Forgot about Bondy boy...yeah that would be cool...if he was not so gender specific in his conquests...well....you know what I mean! and the 007 gun....I had one as a kid, for about 15 minutes, until my eldest brother stole it, silencer and all...gold handle...cap gun...damn...still annoyed!!

Hey MNG...have you done a "which super hero would you be and why", yet?
Now that would be interesting and funny...particularly if we include our actual physical attributes in the description....I'd need several Superman suits for the tummy area methinks!
and Dusky gurrrl...DAMN!! I WANNA SEE YOU IN THE COSSIE!!! and can you put your hair in the bagel style...please....tee hee!!!
