Which TV Home Would You Choose to Live?
October 17th 2007 21:48
From time to time - as you do - I dragged out a copy of the old Happy Days TV series the other day - complete with Richie, The Fonz, Ralph Malph, Potsie and the gang - just to lighten the mood around the palatial Nice Guy estate.
The sugary sweet, 'twee' nature of the whole series had almost been lost on me when one of my kids (who was watching the episodes for the first time) and referring to the quaint timber facade of the Cummingham residence quipped:
"Wouldn't it be sooooo cool to live in their house."
Well - come to think of it - I guess (given we only ever saw the lounge, kitchen and two bedrooms) that perhaps it might just be cool to take up digs with Marion and Howard - heyyyyyyyy!
So if you could live in any home on a television series, what would it be?
Perhaps The Addams Family or The Brady Bunch environs were more to your taste - or The Munsters offered your kind of real estate.
Perhaps life with a bunch of Desperate Housewives is more your cuppa tea or a weekend with Mr Rourke and Tattoo on Fantasy Island?
Love to hear from you.

No.1 daughter actually thought Sal's place would be her home of choice too.
Probably have to fight Flaming Alf for it - then again could always just camp out at the diner.
Cheers

You got it right there in that there picture... It'd be really kooky, wouldn't it? Although some would say my place is a bit like that anyway's *chuckle*
/seriously/ failing that, perhaps the Jetsons Pad or the Bat Lab - for sure...
This was fun, thanks.

Rosie always worried me - so did Mr Spaceley - but the pad was pretty cool.
As for the BatCave - you sure you haven't just fallen for the Bat Pole's?
Thanks for dropping by

Come to think of it, (and noticing your tag for the first time), Max's pad was pretty groovy, although I can't ever recall seeing the kitchen, can you?

I would live with Charlotte on Park Avenue in Sex and the City, with Diver Dan in the Boatshed in Seachange, or in Pingu's igloo. Lol.

I've allocated the following to you.
Summer - The Addams family home
Autumn - The Simpson's abode
Winter - The Jupiter 2 - from Lost in Space
Spring - Buffy and Jodie's Fifth Avenue apartment from A Family Affair - I'm guessing you may actually be a not quite of an age to remember this one

ahhhh I would DEFINITELY choose to live at the house in 'Silver Spoons' - they had the coolest house and I loved the train running through the downstairs!
But I`d have to have Punky Brewster`s bedroom!

Never caught up with Silver Spoons - but I assume the title says it all?
Punky Brewster? Just remember what happened to her when she 'got all grown up' - I put it down to that bedroom myself . . .
Thanks for droping by and sharing

well, already many have been mentioned that I'd love to do a stint in, however, what about shacking up with JR on the ranch? And speaking of ranches, I'd love to visit Hoss on the Ponderosa, stay a day with my favourite cowboy and cowgirl, Will Rogers and Dale, and ride his horse Trigger...loved Trigger...and loved Mr. Ed of course of course...WILBURRRR!!!!
Definitely Maxwell's place, and try the cone of silence with the Chief...oh and bang on the soda dispenser machine to annoy thingo...Appleby..??..inside. .and of course, a visit to KAOS HQ, with Zeigfried!!!
Go on a jaunt with the original Mission Impossible guys, stay with 007, Sean Connery preferably, in any of the fab bad guy's palaces...that is until they get nasty...and as a kid I always envied the home of My Three Sons...can still hear its theme music...and and and...the sub in Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea...SEAVIEW???...loved the big glass window at the front and who wouldn't want to spend some time with Samantha in the Bewitched home, or with Jeannie in her bottle on I Dream of Jeannie...yes I think she would be the MOST fun of all...as long as I didn't let on I had a HUGE crush on Tony!! (seem to have a thing there for Mr.Hagman...JR and all....)
ok...nuff said....
cheers and great post old bean!

I think you mean Larraby - though I'm sure Appleby was there somewhere.
Thought you may have cited Petticoat Junction as your choice of residence?
Either way I just see you, Hoss, Little Joe, Ben Cartwright and whatever his name was - the older brother (who later played Trapper John) riding astride a pinto pony - holster at your hip, chaps flailing in the breeze . . . yep that's definitely you
Thanks for dropping by - oh and make sure you say hello to Hop Sing for me.

Yes indeed it was Larraby....I am turning into one of THOSE older people who nearly get your name right....sad really...and as regards my taste in horses...let alone 'horse's hoofs!'....ahem...it MUST be a palamino...SUCH a fabulous looking horse.
I met this dude (sorry, could not help that word "dude"...with all the American cowboy stuff...) anyhoo, he had this gorgeous palamino horse, and as we chatted I found out that this incredibly expensive animal had been left at the Sydney Show Grounds' (old one) stables, the owner not returning for two years!!
When the owner finally got off his fat arse and went to check on the horse, the horse rescuer guy told him to piss off and he kept his horse!! He argued that he had paid the fees, fed and groomed the palamino for two years, and if he wanted to collect his horse he better front with a few thousand bucks!!
The idiot stormed off shouting he could keep it! Horse people are usually very nice people, but this slob was a moron.
And so when I met the palamino he looked very happy...umm...well...you know what I mean!!
I am kind of stuck on horses am I not?
MNG, next you need to post on whose TV/movie house you DON'T want to live in!!
cheers

Apparently 'their house is a museum - when people come to see em'
Though I'm guessing you're neither creepy or cooky - after all - Marilyn (blond hair, curves and sweet as pie nature) fitted right in with Uncle Herman - unless of course you have your own 8ft tall butler or a dragon under the staircase - then I'll defer judgement.
Great to make your acqauintance - hope you call in again soon.

Mr Burns' mansion would be pretty cool to live in as well. Not only does he have a human chessboard, but you could release the hounds when unwanted visitors came to the door!

Always had a soft spot for the dawky girl with the glasses on the show - her name escapes me. Think she probably lived in a library though.

I always thought the whole Partridge Family bus thing would be pretty cool. Fraziers apartment definitely - as for Monica and Rachels place - well only if it came with both.
