The One Thing I Can't Live Without Is?
November 27th 2007 20:55
Putting the emotional aspects of the question to one side for the moment (ie: love, friends) - what is the one material crutch in your life that you simply can't live without?
Perhaps you're a classical music fan and the mere thought of not getting a daily dose of Fabini, Jackson or Easdale would drive you manic.
Perhaps its that first coffee, the gym, new shoes, meditation?
Does the thought of losing your mobile put fear and loathing into your existence?
What ever it is - I would love to hear it.

I feel lost if I don't read everyday, and not just reading magazines, or stuff online, it's the book itself and not just what is in it that I love. It's so exciting opening a brand new book with its perfect pages and uncreased spine, and so comforting opening a really old book that has been pored over a hundred times.
What about YOU, MNG?

Thankyou for asking.
Like you - I have to read - mostly crappy stuff - trivial non-sense, newspapers, magazines - in fact I find it hard to sit down to breakfast, lunch - whatever and not have something - even a catalogue to muse over.
That said - I'm not a big reader of fiction - never have been. It's simply not an escape for me. Personally I find it hard to sit down for any prolonged period of time and chill - always been a bit of a doer.
However - I do love my music. In essence that my escape! That and the surf. The two have been intertwined in my life since I can remember.
Both help centre my life.
Thanks for sharing.

However, I hate feeling 'disconnected' - if I leave my mobile phone at home when I go out, I feel somewhat helpless. I would hate not to have the internet as well, as I just love having all that knowledge, resources and entertainment at my fingertips.

What a wonderful medium television is. I find that by the time I get home from work - the best I can do is try and catch the late news - so it doesn't play as big a role in my life as it once did.
Take it away altogether though - and I'd be lost.
Thanks for stopping by and chatting.

The 'net'.
Use that term 10 years ago - and people would think you were involved in either the fishing industry or a circus
Yep - so many of us are a slave to technology - no matter how good it is.

Love my iPod - whether its going for a run, on the train or just about and about - but you know what - love playing vinyl on the jukebox even more.
I'm a snippety kinda guy when it comes to books though. Facts and general trivial dribble is about my limit.
Though I do read the occassional read autobiography.
Thanks for stopping by.

Great to have you come on board.
A colleague's husband is in the same boat.
Chalk that one up to a definite necessity.
Hope you find the time to drop in again.
Cheers

It's not that I am materialistic as such but these things make me happy, they keep me in touch with people which is really important to me and I enjoy and appreciate them.
Another great question, MNG
