Advertising icons of the 20th Century

May 11th 2009 22:00
Ronald McDonald
From frozen vegetables to fast food, cereal to cigarettes - some of the best loved ad images of the 20th century have names like Tony, Ronald and the Marlboro man - all of whom have had a profound influence on our buying habits.

Where they were carefully crafted characters or the personification of a businesses they became dominant brands in their fields -- thanks in part to their famous icons.

Be it Cornelius from Corn Flakes fame or Bucky Beaver from the Ipana ads - who do you recall with either fondness or loathing?

Has Ronald McDonald done your head in?

Did the Milky Bar kid drive you around the twist?

Should Freddo Frog be admited into the Hall of Fame?

. . . stay tuned
