Movie Bloopers

December 20th 2007 21:05
Ever since I pointed out a few of the erroneous flaws in the movie Grease to Miss 10-year-old - she has taken great delight in taking mental notes of 'gaffs' in movies.

Of course the whole waitress turning off the lights with her elbow but missing the light switch by six inches, is now the standard by which she judges just about everything these days - and has detected some great goofs in movies including The Sound of Music, Mean Girls, Dr Dolittle, Ice Princess, Are We There Yet and Princess Diaries.

One of my favourites - besides the 'gem' in Star Wars when one of the storm troopers hits his head on the door frame - is a scene a friend pointed out recently from the movie Gladiator - when one of the chariots is turned over (in the Colosseum).

When the dust settles its clear to all and sundry - that there's a fairly sizable gas cylinder sitting quite happily in the back - what were they thinking?

- isn't someone paid to check these things out before it hits the cinema screens?

Of course there's often spurious tales of aircraft appearing in the skies of westerns, wristwatches appearing on the arms of warriors and a variety of goofs, gaffs and bloopers that would make a movie mogul cringe - would love to hear any you've discovered.

See I'm so unobservant that I never notice stuff like that!

Kylie

The distraction is both shocking and tiresome - best to be unobservant and enjoy the ride.

Merry Christmas.

In Cleopatra, we saw fillings in teeth - did they do fillings in those days.?

Hey Bidder

Was that the Elizabeth Taylor version?

All I remember was the gaping laughing mouth with the fillings. Spoilt the whole movie

I notice little ones all the time - like an actor being in a different position every time the camera angle changes, or a glass being empty then suddenly full a second later - but I am often oblivious to the ones that should be more obvious! Usually I don't pick up on them until I see a movie a second time - and then I notice that you can see the cameraman in the reflection of the window!
