Ladies and Gentlemen - The President of the United States

September 3rd 2008 02:38
Palin
Would you argue?
Now be it far from me to judge - but there is the distinct possibility that this woman could be leading the free world - should the unthinkable happen and John McCain actaully a) win the US election and b) secombe to illness, frailty or worse still - God's hand.

Now I will admit - Palin certainly scrubs up a whole lot better than her Presidental running mate - but boy - has McCain gone out on a limb or what!

Perhaps I'm out of step - and heaven knows this is certainly outside my realm of expertise - but if nothing else - it has put John McCain back on the front pages of tabloids all around the world - but is it for the right reason?

Out of touch? But I just can't help but think that it's a desperate attempt to win middle America - and maybe - just maybe it will - however if shots like these are anything to go by - it will be a torid time in the tabloids for the Republicans.

Please someone - tell me I'm wrong.

I promise to resume normal transmissions via the Nice Guy blog as soon as I pick myself up off the floor.

ROFL MNG,

I love that picture! How hard did you have to search for that? Hmm, is that one of her sons in the background? Wonder if he was eighteen while smoking that cigarette. She could probably give Dick Cheney a run for his money out quail hunting.

Photoshop.

Sorry MNG, I detest Palin's politics but sexism is sexism and it hurts all women.

I think this article is unfair.

It's her policies that should be called into question. Not how she looks in a bikini. Or rather, how her photoshopped head looks on another woman in a bikini.

i think it's the best thing ever that she's the running mate.
and it's even better that her white trash 17 year old daughter is knocked up to some wife beating asshole.
it means there's no way in hell mccain is ever, ever going to win now.

is it photoshop?

I read that someone photoshopped her beauty pageant pic on a naked body - but this looks real?

Or does it? Perhaps the head was just pasted and blended on?

Sexism rubs both ways - as I'm sure your attest - when it works for people they use it as a weapon - when it doesn't they call it victimisation.

McCain's decision must be based on something other than Palin's track record - caus' frankly she just ain't been round long enough to have one.

Probably says a whole lot more about the Republican movement and its candidate that poor ol Ms Palin.

Would appear that John McCain has the key to Ms Pailn's gun locker and shot himself in the foot - but then again - I'm not versed in the ways of the American voting public - particularly given that voting of course is not compulsory as it is here.

Guess we'll see.

I agree with Cibbuano. I think it might be a legit picture. I mean she loves and knows how to handle guns. Also being the VP nominee she has to be patriotic in some way, hence the American Flag bikini. Although some might find that offensive in itself. I think the key would be comparing pics of her sons to the kid in the background smoking. If it is Photoshopped, no way would someone go to that much detail to put her son's head on a body in the background. lol

Real or fake, it is still a great pic.

Ok, firstly let me say, ace photoshop job, bloody faultless! I can't pick it at all. Secondly, ROTFLMAO this is funny and scary at the same time.

it looks photoshopped mainly because shes wearing her glasses and tidy hair-do and professional makeup at the pool . . . if its supposedly a candid shot in the privacy of her backyard it seems awfully set-up . . . similarly if its a promo shot i could only wonder what for? haha

and doesnt she live in Alaska? seems a little underdressed - unless she takes the rifle away on her tropical holidays LOL (would she?)

i dont like any politicians who try to run on a "family values" platform, its preachy and imposing (regardless of the rifle and bikini hehe)

Okay, so find me a picture of Obama's head photoshoped onto Borat.

No?

Exactly.

Sorry but I'm not going to criticise the Republicans (Palin included,) for their anti-women policies and then turn around and laugh when such a blatantly sexist photograph is used to demean one of their candidates. Yeah, I find it difficult to have much sympathy for her but that doesn't make it right.

Well, on one hand--I think I'd prefer someone who isn't "experienced" in U.S. politics to be running right now. That way they're not quite as jaded and mercenary as the old dogs--hell, they might still actually have a dream about helping the country.

On the other hand, I'm not liking what I have read so far about Palin's views on abortion or gun control.

I'm reserving judgment till I get more facts.

Comment by Cibbuano

Ruby, it's not Obama in a bikini, but around the time he was considering his presidential bid, I did a little creative Photoshopping of my own:

Oh, Mr. Obama!

Morgan, it may be hard to believe, but those of us that come from the frozen tundras of N. America are not perpetually wrapped in huge fur parkas. In the summer, it can get quite hot, easily comfortable enough for a bikini.

Well, comfortable enough for Alaskans to wear a bikini - Sydneysiders would probably still freeze, then complain about house prices.

Back to the original subject: MNG, some truths are rearing their ugly heads as we speak.

I've done some homework, and though pressed for time right now I had to go on record here about Sarah Palin:

No, no NO. Absolutely not. She's under investigation for abuse of power, she solicits drilling for oil in Alaska (as long as they get a bigger cut) she overturned a 20-year protection policy for wolves and bears in Alaska and now has F&G shooting cubs en masse from helicopters and planes..that's so there will be more moose and elk for tourist hunters.

Also, she said this, which has to be one of the stupidest comments I've ever heard--ever.

"When asked about continued American troop presence in Iraq she said she knows only one thing about that (I paraphrase): no one has attacked the American homeland since George Bush took the war to Iraq." DA
These are early days in the election process and we still have the smear campaigns phase to go through.
Each of the candidates I have seen so far have good and bad points. It still looks to me like a choice between Alien or Predator.
The question is which policies will matter to the majority on the day and who actually bothers to get out of bed.

Obviously

It was obviously a fake just like the stories about Obama being a closet terrorist. Smear campaigns are more damaging to the people who use them than they are to those that they target. The only people they impress are the people who create them.

I'm a photoshopper and whoever did the Palin pic is pretty bloody good. Great blending and even the facial expression looks like it goes with the gun!

Haha Lilla, that's been running through my head for days.

As much as I'd like to say that I think it would be a reasonably hard to call election, unfortunately I think McCain will win this quite easily. Because the voting system in the US is voluntary, I think every conservative and racist will come out of the woodwork to vote so that they don't have a 'muslim, terrorist, baby-killing black man' in power. I've seen interview footage of people saying they will vote against Obama because he swore his oath on the Qur'an(!?!) This is the kind of crap he's up against. The propaganda machine has been well oiled on this one.

I just wish the BBC would stop it's 'round the clock coverage of it all. I feel like I'm stuck watching American programming. But little else has been on BBCWorld and I have it playing in my face all day at work. Enough already.

Right now neither candidate is doing much more than talking the talk.

Substance I fear is sorely lacking.

Obama is the face that the world has been waiting for since Kennedy apparently - only thing they really have in common is great speech writers and hype.

If you save the picture and then open the pic in a picture viewer which allows you to magnify the head area you can see where her head was cropped onto somebody elses body. If she really had a body that good I'd vote for her on that alone.

On the other side of the coin, you can say what you want about politics. Obama is saying that the topic of Palin's pregnant daughter should be off limits. And no doubt the Republican conservatives are all applauding Obama for such a statement.

But, had Obama or Biden had a teenage daughter who had gotten herself pregnant out of wedlock, you can bet that the Republican election strategists would be gleefully ringing their hands and slinging the mud already.

When it comes to the White House all ethical bets are off!
