Top Ten Telephone Songs
December 29th 2007 20:20
Ever thought about just how many songs have been written about the telephone?
No - I hear you say!
Well as I sat impatiently waiting for a connection through to Singapore yesterday - a thousand thoughts started to cross my mind - when by pure co-incidence ELO's 70's hit - Telephone Line made its way through the airwaves to no.1 daughter's room - up the hall and to my expectant (and exasperated) ears.
Now - as far as affording a timely reason to post on a subject matter - this was right up there.
So - while I 'hung on' I jotted down 5 or 6 ditty's which sprung to mind and added a few more after - just to round it out.
Would love to hear any you might have.
1) Pennsylvania 6 - 5000 - Glenn Miller Orchestra
2) Call Me - Blondie
3) Telephone Line - Electric Light Orchestra
4) Back Of My Hand (I've Got Your Number) - Jags
5) Rikki Don't Lose That Number - Steely Dan
6) Operator - Midnight Star
7) Baby Don't Forget My Number - Milli Vanilli
8) 777-9311 - The Time
9) Obscene Phone Caller - Rockwell
10) Memphis - Chuck Berry & Johnny Rivers

I used to wonder about that number when I was a teen - but never had the gumption to call it up.
All I can say is Ricki Don't Lose That Number . . . .
