Gen Y's - take note!
The 'Diva' isn't an invention of the 'noughties'.
For those of us who can remember I would cite the following roll call and invite you to add to what I'm sure would be an impressive line-up.
Let's kick things off with Chaka Khan - probably most noted the liberated classic. . . "I'm Every Woman"
How about Thelma Houston who implored us - "Don‘t leave me this way".
Or Irene Cara, early Madonna, Laura Branigan, Cyndi Lauper, Bonnie Tyler or the Disco diva herself - Donna Summer?
Yes folks - today's diva's did have mothers and grandmothers - sisters in arms - who paved the way for today's Lady Ga Ga's, Pinks and Sheryl Crows.
