School Canteen (tuckshop) Favourites
March 29th 2010 03:50
Remember the good old days when school canteens (or tuckshops) had a plethora of stuff that wasn't necessarily good for you?
In a world besotted by carrot sticks, frozen orange quarters and tofu on a stick (well perhaps not quite tofu on a stick) - there was a time believe it or not when cream buns, doughnuts and just about any conceivable stick condiment was available from 8am through to lunch-time.
From paddlepops to meat pies, chocolate bread to chips, twisties (yes cheese and chicken) and my personal favourite 'Happy Snax'.
In the main, I guess all (or most) of the 'good stuff' has vanished or has it?
So, did you have a school canteen favourite?

High school it was all about the Maxibons, and I'd have two cans of Coke a day when they started selling those! It stopped us all from nicking off down to the shops instead, though it was definitely not good for our teeth. I strongly suspect Coke will have been banned from my old school by now... sign of the times.

These things were "treats" once. Even opening the fridge at home was guarded.

And I can't remember their name - was it a frosty boy - they were shaped like a diamond and had frozen juice in them
