Songs Not Necessarily About Food . . .
October 26th 2010 01:37
Where else on the blogosphere would you find a list of “food-inspired” songs covering a vast array of music genres, styles and eras.
OK - perhaps there's dozen's - or perhaps there's simply people out there with very little to do and too much time to amuse themselves.
Which ever way you look at it there's been a multitude - in fact a gastronomic number of songs featuring aspects of eating, drinking and dining, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert.
Some, I’m sure you probably realize don’t really have anything to do with food at all, but are a metaphor for other guilty pleasures of life, so to speak. So it’s probably no surprise how often food terminology comes up in song.
I thought I'd post a few - but if you can think any - please add these to the list.
All That Meat And No Potatoes – Fats Waller
A Growing Boy Needs His Lunch – Dead Kennedys
Wild Honey – Beach Boys
The Candy Man – Sammy Davis Jr.
Sugar Daddy – Thompson Twins
Poundcake – Van Halen
Milkshake – Kelis
Ice Cream Man – Van Halen
Blueberry Hill – Louis Armstrong
Cherry Bomb - John Cougar Mellancamp
Cold Turkey – John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band
