Songs About Trains
September 16th 2009 04:03
Yes, you read this correctly.
You'd think that songsters would have more pressing issues to pen chords on - but when you consider how many of the modern era classics included either the notion or simply the word train - it's quite startling.
Last Train to Clakesville, Slow Train Running, Peace Train, why even Sheena Easton's beau took the morning train and Kylie re-popularised doing the locomotion.
So be it "Chattanooga Choo Choo" by Glenn Miller, "Morning Train" by Peter Paul & Mary or even "Zion Train" by Bob Marley and the Wailers - what songs can you recall that would make the list?

Trains and Boats and Planes huh!
The Doobies are one of my favs from the late 70's - and along with China Grove and What A Fool Believes - Long Train Runnin' is right up there with their best.
Nice selection!

Movies and Life
I can think of a few train-related songs:
The The - Slow Train to Dawn
The Kinks - Waterloo Sunset
REM - Driver 8
The Cure - Jumping On Someone Else's Train
And they are also four of some of my fave songs. I must listen to them now,
Byee
