Star Trek (the original) Trivia
May 28th 2009 06:44
I was a huge fan of the original Star Trek TV series.
I remember it as a kid - and albeit dated - it is iconic TV 60's pop culture.
Now I'm no trivia expert when it comes to the program - but there are a few bits and pieces you may find interesting - and I'm sure a whole lot more you could add which I'd be interested in finding out about.
James Doohan (Scotty) lost his right middle finger during World War II. Most of his scenes are shot to hide it.
Martin Landau was originally offered the role of Commander Spock, but declined.
Mission: Impossible was filmed on the same lot as Star Trek, therefore when "Star Trek" (1966) ended, Nimoy merely crossed the street to go to his new job when, strangely enough when Martin Landau left the series.
In 2000, the show was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as having the largest number of spin-off productions, including the feature film series and the numerous TV series.
Contrary to popular belief, Captain Kirk never said, "Beam me up, Scotty," in any episode.

Except. The guy who played Mr Spock had a lot of trouble getting work after the series. It was always a big joke that when he went for an audition eveyone would call him "Mr Spock" and he hated it.

Perhaps he should've taken off the ears before going into the interview . . .

I shudder to think about the trivia that lurks in your mind - I thank the Klingon gods that your connection is playing up.

I think the movie you're talking about is called "Kid Monk Baroni".
