Adopt A Blog

When it comes to blogs most of us have our favourite sites, our favourite writers, our favourite combatants or sometimes just our favourite people - so we tend to get a little staid in our processes.
Sure - we bookmark and subscribe for a reason - but given there's some 8,303 Orble blogs, 14,317 members, who have posted over 170,000 times with over 250,000 comments - there's a lot of fish out there in that Orble Ocean.
I guess I was one of the lucky ones - who joined the community when there were fewer than 1500 blogs (I seem to recall) and have made some great real and 'virtual' friendships since.
While I don't make bucketloads of money from Adsense - I have found my little Pop Culturist blog a release from the yaddah yaddah of life - musings which don't necessarily have a lot to say - but probably say a lot about moi!
I been equally fortunate that so many of you took a punt and adopted the Pop Culturist blog - supporting both my ramblings and quite genuine (if not sometimes beige) outlook.
I suspect however - there are a great many other bloggers on the network who are not nearly as fortunate as some of us with regards to subscribers, friends and or virtual acquaintances.
OK - so we all have to work at our content, post regularly and earn a break - but is it such a bad idea that sometimes those who have and continue to enjoy the interaction of our fellow Orblineans that we occassionally adopt a blog or two - as a means of encouraging and growing that person?
I know there's a mentoring programme - which is great - and like most of us there's always a gem which pops up on the Popular Posts list - but starting today - I plan to take heed of my own words on a regular basis.
Don't get me wrong - this isn't some holier than thou outlook - but sometimes (in fact nearly always) you only get out of the system what you are prepared to put into it.
As in life - if that means somewhere along the way you help a like-minded soul - and it makes their day - then it has made mine too.
