Thank you!

Thank you
To those Orblers who took the time and grace to reply to my Open Letter yesterday – thank you!

To those of you who responded in person – your show of support buoyed my belief in not so much the network but the good people who frequent it and keep it afloat.

The rapidity with which the wagons circled afforded me time to take breath and reflect.

The advice received was (in the main) delivered with both good intent and gracious outlook – hallmarks of the genuine and well meaning.

While I feel I need no vindication for the actions and stance I adopted – I was left with a feeling (that like me) many of you feel the need occassionally to draw the cutlass from its scabbard and wield such insights – as the loud are also very often just hollow.

Some of you were there when I first stepped foot on Orble – some of you I met along the path to enlightenment – and some I’ve yet to meet – but it’s a journey that I will continue knowing that when the whips are cracking those who matter will hear the call.

To each and every one of you – my thanks!

i am very grateful to have met you MNG, your posts are always entertaining and are a great asset to the network . . . and i know you are a genuinely caring and considerate person, a fabulous level-headed father figure for all us little kiddy bloggers

You do yourself a dis-service. But appreciate your generous words.

It is such a shame that it has come to this - where we have to post blogs to say we won't tolerate bad behaviour. I honestly think the network itself would be a much better place if the 'Verify Comments' became a default. I guess though many would think it impeded freedom of speech but where is our freedom from hate?

Unfortunately I also think a number of people would still verify hateful comments because they enjoy watching it all go to custard.

I was glad to voice my support of your stance and applaud you for writing it.

Hi MNG,

All part of being in a community that cares about its members my friend. It's a shame you've been pushed to take a stand but admirable the way you have approached it.

You may not change the machinations of those that strive for malice satisfactions but you have certainly drawn out the goodwill of those that aspire to common courtesy..maybe like common sense, blah blah, blah you know the cliche..

Be well and I look forward to reading your further posts....

No fanfares please.

There are pitches and catchers in this world - but the game is nought without either.

Hope that makes sense.

Stay well champ

May your life be filled with false friends who agree with you MNG.

I just don't know how to approach all this rubbish. Taking a stand on Orble and being praised for it? Try taking a stand against the rubbish on Orble. And see how nice people think you are.

You do seem like a genuinely nice guy. Who loves television a bit too much. The great corrupter of the modern mind. But making friends with some of the tossers on this site has never sat well with me.

I wouldn't wish evil upon you. You do seem like a nice guy. A bit too nice at times. But that happens. If being falsely praised by people who only think about Orble and themselves floats your boat, then soak it up.

I'm loving not having a blog. It frees my time up to make real genuine comments. Without fear or favour. Thanks Smorgy. You little snog muffin.

Anyway, this post will be forgotten soon. So what does it matter what anyone writes? People wrap fish in Murdoch's papers. To all the virtual fishies out there in cyber space? Enjoy fishy-wishies.

And may your wives smell of the land.

MNG, you're consistently nice, sometimes to nice, but that's the premier quality about you that I like.

Taking a stand and holding yourself to a higher standard than those of the mob mentality is commendable. I try and do the same thing, but . . . when I find myself (or friends) the topic of negative conversation in the comments or content of a post in a public arena, it's an invitation to join in on the conversation and I am never going to be civil about the matter.

Oh God, I can't believe people think being too nice is a fault!

MNG I imagine you are really nice, which to me is a great virtue and it's one of the reasons I really enjoy reading your blogs (as well as the fact that they are engaging and fun). It's like having a conversation with a mate you get along with really well. I got accused of being 'too nice' and therefore 'too fake' too and it bugs me. I like being nice, it's so much easier than being narky. I'm sure both of us have many faults - damn I have so many I could start an earthquake - but I don't think being nice is a fault.

Anyways, it would mean you would have to change your name to Mr Only Occasionally Nice Guy or MOONG which just sounds plain wrong...
