The Rich and Famous - Who Have You Met?
August 21st 2007 01:15
Is it just me – or does anyone else find themselves constantly bumping into fame as a part of your everyday comings and goings?
Sure – hunkered down in a big city – chances are you’re going to see the occasional celebrity – but when you’re sitting on a jetty minding your own business and the likes of say Hugh Jackman come up and introduce themselves to you – then perhaps your simply fated.
Depending on which way you look at it – I guess I’ve been fortunate enough to cross paths with everyone from the PM to the Leyland Bros (who just happened to pitch their tents and set up camp not 20 metres from us – despite kilometers of virgin coastal bushland).
From soap and sports stars to ‘Rusty’ Crowe – you’d be forgiven if you thought I was simply playing name-dropper – but it would appear that fame is out there – trying to blend in among the masses.
And it’s not restricted to Oz either.
Not too long ago – while holidaying in the land of grass skirts and hulu’s – we took a tourist bus to a Luau – when who should plonk themselves on the seat in front of me - unannounced - than actor Tom Selleck.
Same trip – we come nose to nose with the Hoff and world women’s surf champ Layne Beechley.
So – for fear of looking a complete Wally – best I put a full point on the whole “People I have met” thing right here – right now and ask the question – who have you ever bumped into in your travels?
Bonus points for Irene Cara.

The coolest of all was Charlie Sheen who invited us to party with him, crazy night....also having a beer with David Fincher and Brad Pitt after a 7 screening downstairs was fun...
One day when i was bolting upstairs to the restaurant i sent a guy flying across the room when I ran into him, it was Cliff Richard...
Oh and the Model Cafe opened across the road and I was their for teh VIP party so I was in a room with all the supermodels of the time Elle, Cindy, Kate etc
Enough name dropping for now, none of them would remember me anyway

I used to work concerts and in the fashion industry. I have met a lot of famous folks. I have met many a listers but my favorite story occurred when I was flying from Dallas to LA in the early 80s and flew first class with Al Lewis of the Munsters, Cesar Romero, and Tab Hunter. Although I had never met any of these men before they were quite
entertaining. Cesar and Tab were leacherous old farts but Al was very protective and changed seats with me so that I would not have to endure the advances of Mr. Hunter and Mr. Romero. Mr. Lewis was quite insistent that he defend my honor.
