Sad news from Hollywood as the dad from Happy Days, Tom Bosley, has died at the age of 83. Tom Bosley's death was announced today due to a reported fight with a staph infection.
Bosley was featured as the dad in the television show 'Happy Days' that featured Ron Howard and Henry Winkler. Both men went on to successful directing careers after the show.
Howard played Bosley's teenage son Richie Cunningham while Winkler played the ultra cool motorcycle guy known as 'The Fonz' or better known as Arthur Fonzarelli.
Bosley's TV wife was actress Marion Ross who worked with the actor during the 11 year run of the television show.
Bosley's 50 years as a television actor included roles on dozens of shows, Ron Howard was quoted this morning as saying that Bosely was 'Remarkable on so many levels, his insight, talent, strength of character and comic timing made him a vital central figure in the 'Happy Days' experience.'
"A great father and husband, and a wonderful artist, Tom lead by example, and made us all laugh while he was doing it."
Henry Winkler, who was "The Fonz" on "Happy Days," said Bosley "was a family member, both on and off the sound stage."
"We acted together, traveled together and played charades together," Winkler said. "He was a loving husband, a doting father and a fantastic grandfather. He will be so missed but never forgotten by the Winkler family or the world."
Bosley's professional acting career began on stage in the 1950s, including a Tony for his role as New York City Mayor LaGuardia in the 1959 musical "Fiorello!"
Before his "Happy Days" work, Bosley was found regular work on "Love, American Style," "Night Gallery," "The Debbie Reynolds Show" and dozens of other television shows.
