Web SIte of The Week
February 20th 2008 21:40
As part of an occassional series - thought I'd share some worthwhile websites with Orblers - that either entertain, amuse or simply offer something of worth for all.
Stumbled across this little gem through a group called Anthill which afforded a small slice of humanity.
"Reckon you have a pretty good vocabulary? Well why are you wasting it pontificating at dinner parties and bashing out screeds on a blog no one will read. You could be feeding starving children in Africa. Literally!
"FreeRice is an online game that does more than test the rectitude of your lexicon. For every word you correctly define (multiple choice), the UN's World Food Programme donates 20 grains of rice to needy people somewhere in the globe. Money to buy and distribute the rice is provided by companies advertising on the website.
"Being smart never felt so good. Forget billable hours. Get over to FeedRice and knock out a few 'bagable' hours each week.
"The world will thank you."

I'll have to give it a go, a great idea and better than wasting time on other sites...

Not my normal post - but appears to be for a reasonable cause - and a couple of minutes out of my day - could (I suppose) make a difference.

Great sight - good for a good cause. I didn't realise how many words I've been using incorrectly
Great to keep the mind active for olders and great educational for youngies.

Thanks.
It's fun and a small price to pay out of your day to do something worthwhile too.
Appreciate your comments.
Cheers

Yep - it's addictive alright.
Not (as some have suggested) as addictive as Sudoku - but addictive none-the-less.
Cheers and thanks

I didn't realise Jo had done something on this!
In the end though - I guess the more people that are aware - the more everyone benefits.
Keep up the good work my friend.
