Absense Makes the Heart Grows Fonder . . .
April 1st 2008 02:56
I was a lengths as to whether or to mention our upcoming family sourjourn Stateside to the rest of the world or not - but in the interests of those who have (and hopefully continue) to visit the popculturist site - I thought it just plain courtesy to explain the lull in either posts and/or replies for the next few weeks.
Yeah - like your world revolve around me - I can hear you thinking!
Well - fact is - that the boot is probably on the other foot - and to the many 'virtual friends' I've made out there in such a short time - I felt it important to let you know that I hadn't simply fallen from the face of the planet - and that I will sorely miss the musings you all offer.
Sure - there's internet cafe's et al - but I've decided that our time away will be precious family time and as varied and interesting the life I'm fortunate to lead here is - a break is what's needed.
You'll still see the Pop Culturist site pop up now and again - with a few gems waiting in the wings - which I promise to respond to when I return.
But in the interim - and with the smell of aviation fuel only a day or so away - look out LA, Vegas, San Francisco, San Diego, Mexico, Hawaii - the nice guys are heading your way.
My thanks goes to Miswanderlust (make sure you check out her Hipnotherapy, Killer Beats and Ramble On sites) for all the travel tips, advice and well wishes and John Doe (who needs no introduction to Orblers) for the recount of his US visit - which certainly gave me food for thought.
Of course - if anyone has any last minute tourist suggestions - I'll readily take them on board - afterall - there's only so much theme park one nice guy can take.
Thanks for your understanding guys.

I stayed in a reasonably priced Travelodge motel when I was there - it was May, so not their peak season, and I actually was surprised it was affordable.
Don't know if La Jolla has any affordable places these days, but if not, it's still a good day trip, especially if you need a mouse antidote after Disney.
Have fun!
