Web Design for Dummies

March 12th 2009 02:53
Web Design
OK - so I'm the first to admit that while I adore technology - the hardest part is deciding where to start with it sometimes.

Which is why I come cap in hand to ask all of you in the know - which way should I be jumping when it comes to web design software?

Sure - I like to think I know what I'm doing - but to date (with a lot of help) I've managed to get by - but time has come to stand on my own two feet - without falling flat on my face for the first program offering the world - but delivering peanuts.

Do I plump for iWeb 09 (we love our Macs) - so intuitive - and supposedly so easy to use - or should I be looking at something like Dreamweaver?

- is there something I should be looking to download first - what should I be expecting from any software I either download or purchase?

So many questions - which require some assistance from you guys - among whom I'm sure are well qualified and experienced webbies - who can help out a novice just starting down the track.

Dreamweaver or Nothing.

Everything else looks like rubbish.

How long was the self taught method of learning take - is she reasonably user friendly?

Here is a trick MNG.

Download a dreamweaver template and modify it.
You will learn very quickly that way.

That's good to know, Damo, because I am at "dummy when it comes to anything about Web Design.

Way to go! A few years ago I got a book when I was going to go in with a friend and start a website. 8 years and 32.95 later it still hasn't happened. AND I haven't gotten past the fifth chapter in the book.

Thanks Damo.

Heard so many stories from so many people about Dreamweaver - yet no-one has suggested downloading templates.

That's outstanding advice - I'm onto it.

Cheers

Janet

We're in the same boat - good to know that now we can at least share a paddle.

Morgan

Do infants enjoy infancy as much as adults enjoy adultary?
