Perhaps they were delivered at a time of adversity in your life or when you were young (though the adage - You're Never Too Old to Learn - is equally true).
Who gave you the advice and were they family, friends or a complete stranger and did their words save you from yourself?
Simple question no doubt - but I suspect still waters run deep.
