What have been the World's Worst Movies
December 9th 2011 04:40
What do Gone With The Wind, The Wizard Of Oz and Citizen Kane got in common? They were all box office flops - or at least were when they came out.
But essentially they aren't bad movies - which is the crux of the matter - there is indeed a difference between a movie flop and just an out and out movie that sux!
Movies like Over Her Dead Body which stars Eva Longoria and where she gets killed by an ice-sculpture on her wedding day, then comes back and haunts her husband’s new girlfriend.
In the end, her betrothed marries the living woman and Eva goes back to heaven - griping,
Then there's the Mariah Carey classic - Glitter which follows the life of a struggling songstress in the eighties - the less said about that one the better.
How about little Johnny Travolta's Battlefield Earth or Ishtar starting Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman.
Grease 2 also comes to mind - proof that some things just need to be left alone.
And while we're on the musical bandwagon - how did the Spice Girls ever recover from their self titled offering Spice World back in the late 90s.
Mind, schlock in it's purist form was probably best viewed in the sci fi era of the 50s with efforts including Plan 9 from Outer Space and Robot Monster - both considered classics - for probably all the wrong reasons.
A young Pia Zadora made her intentions (and ability) known early on with Santa Claus Conquers the Martians - and an erstwhile colleague has also suggested Monster a Go Go (which I've never heard) and Son of Mask - which I have and which I'd never.
So, whether you're an avid buff or a casual observer - what ranks in your mind as the true stinkers of the celluloid world?
