The World's Worst Song?
September 27th 2007 01:36
Ya know - there are annoying songs, truly awful songs and then there are just plain - 'you're messin' with my mind' songs - that we just can't stomach.
Trouble is of course - that collectively we would never hear these through mainstream sources such as radio - if they didn't at least have a modicum of support.
For example - if I never heard - "My Heart Will Go On" from Celine Dion, "Shiny Happy People" from REM or "Tainted Love" from Soft Cell - it would be too soon.
Of course novelty songs such as 'Day Trip to Bangor", "Convoy" or "Disco Duck" don't really count - but I suspect that's another post altogether.
So what songs could you live without ever hearing again?

And 'Yellow' by Coldplay.
'Macarena'...the worst novelty song ever!
I don't mind Beyonce but can't stand her 'live' warbling-let's-stretch-the-he ll-out-of-each-note singing.
Hope you're enjoying the lovely Sydney day MNG...

Nice submissions.
In a similar vein to linking Yoko and Bjork - I tend to put the Macerna and the Chicken Dance in the same basket. Ouch!
As for the day that's been presented to Sydneysiders - the only way it could be bettered is if 3ft left handers were breaking at Freshie.
Stay well my friend

Also: John Mayer - You're Body is a Wonderland, and Billy Ray Cyrus - Achy Breaky Heart.
Ick.

I guess (like most tunes) it all depends on the surroundings/and or your life experiences at the time of the lyrical collision.
From what I gather - it's a crowd fav among the girls.
Always a pleasure to have you drop by.

As for actual bad songs. Achy Breaky Heart has to be up there......but it's actually a very catchy song. Which is irritating.....cos it's terrible.
And quite frankly, I could live without ever hearing another song from Celine Dion or Mariah Carey

Ya know, as much as I despise it - I still sing along. Bit like drivers stopping to check out crash in my books.
Have to agree to disagree on this one.
There you go again - you've got me humming the damn thing now.
